How expensive is vacation in France?

How expensive it is to do a vacation in France?

I heard that it is quite expensive to stay there, is that true based from your experience? Can you suggest how to travel there in a low budget or is that even possible?

Your ideas on this will be much appreciated!

    Thanks.

First of all you should tell us how are you going to arrive in France, and what do you like to visit. The French Riviera is not your destination if you are in a low budget, but that does not mean that you can't spend a nice weekend in other regions and cities in France. Depending on your location you can rent an apartment or holiday home from 100€, but you have to find a good one, and book it early. You can also buy food from super markets, you don't have to eat in restaurants, but note that on a vacation you may want to indulge yourself. You can choose a place where you can take long walks, and admire the landscape, or you could look for museums and parks where there is no entrance fee.

Honestly, we are not decided yet where to really visit there first. It will depend on some things, like budget and places we want to really see or visit first, as I mentioned before. But It is good to know that you can already get an accomodation for 100€ in some other cities or region, well check on that :-) Thanks for the great insight!

I got a very good accommodation near Paris for 150€, it was a bargain! I wish I still had their phone number or website so I could book another trip and to stay there!
Yes, staying in France is not exactly the cheapest country to stay on vacations, but it depends on where you stay and how much you pretend to spend to visit what you want/can visit. I went there 3 times already and the first one (I traveled from Portugal) I only spent 550€ overall... for 1 month! And did some shopping and everything. It's all about money-saving tips and learning to enjoy your surroundings.

Accomodation and food are expensive if you do it the "regular" way, hotels and restaurants etc. But if you book an apartment then it will be a lot cheaper and you can prepare some meals in the kitchen etc. Most things worth seeing: architecture, nature etc. are free anyway.

That sounds really cheap! 550€ for everything in one month? And you had the chance to still shop? You must really be good when it comes to budget strategy :-) I wish I know as well how to budget like that.

I've wondered this myself, but like someone mentioned before it probably depends on the hotels and sites you choose to see. You probably can get some really good deals on certain sites for hotels, tickets ect...

It's not much about budged strategy but also your luck, because there are a lot of accommodation owners that like to negotiate and if they find you friendly and all they're even willing to cut you really nice deals, but it's really all about luck.

You could take a look at the big holiday renting websites offer (booking.com, holidaylettings.co.uk, etc.), but than again you are not going to have the chance to negotiate, but maybe you could see an orientation price. If you don`t want to stay at one place then maybe it would be better to book in person.

How expensive France is depends on many factors. Will you be staying in hotels or hostels? Will you be eating out or purchasing food from a market? What about for fun, how will you get around? I'd suggest that if you want to go as cheap as possible that you stay in hotels, shop at markets for food, and take advantage of public transportation(where it is available)

Not very expensive if you live nearby, like for example the Netherlands. My boyfriend loves driving, so going there from the Netherlands isn't that expensive He doesn't do it often tho, but he would like to do it soon when we get married I'd like to spend a few days there, according to him isn't that expensive If you want to save you can stay at hostels, but I'd not recommend it. I'd prefer to stay at a not so expensive hotel; 2 or 3 stars would be ok. If you come from a country that uses euros as its currency, then you'll not think visiting france is that expensive.

Yes, traveling to France from anywhere in Europe is usually affordable and there is always a chance to think of a cheap vacation rental if you plan to stay there over a week.

However when traveling to France from overseas, it's all about find the best all-inclusive deals of break down your traveling plan to find a cheap flight rate and then go on your own for everything else once once that you get there.
