Which is better in Germany? The big cities or the smaller towns and countryside?

Last summer I was fortunate enough to visit some family in Germany. We flew into Cologne and spent a few hours there, but most of the trip was spent in the smaller towns outside of Cologne, and travelling down the Rhine. I loved it, it was absolutely gorgeous! Next time I go back to visit my family, I would like to travel Germany a bit and see more of it. Normally I would be looking to visit cities, but because I had such a great experience with the towns and villages, part of me wants to see even more of those. Does anyone have any advice? Any particular cities, small towns or landscapes that you think I should visit? Do you think I should stick to the little villages, travel to the bigger cities, or try to mix it up and do some of both?

I was stationed in Germany when I was in the military, and I absolutely loved it. I didn't get to travel around Germany too much, but what I did experience was the countryside. It is so beautiful all year, it's beautiful when snow is on the ground and also when it's not.

I would definitely do a mix of both. I think Germany has such a wonderful offering of both that it's worth it to see as much as you can. I'm more of a nature person myself, so I stick to the countrysides, but I can't stay away from cities like Karlsruhe and Berlin, either. Of course, if you are interested in visiting Karlsruhe, I would wait until all of the construction is done.

You should absolutely try both sides. Cities have a lot to offer as well like this sense of european archi and the historical sites, Berlin for example is a must visit, from its multi culti environment and ofcourse famous historical sites and if you are a foodie, this is a great place to be. Ofcourse small towns are as well unique when it comes to its natural landscape and local cuisines. In synopsis, when you have time and chance, you better visit both cities and towns.

I've only been to Germany once and unfortunately really only spent time in Berlin and Munich which are both fantastic but I would love to go back and spend time in smaller towns. I think it's nice to experience both in a new country because they both have things to offer.

In my point of view smaller town is better then as big cities in Germany because its natural beauty is awesome and attraction for the visitor eyes no pollution there everything which you want to required during the visit is available..

If we see how far this thing can actually go and taking care of a lot does bring a certain productive way out to us niagara falls trip from nj is having all the sources which are enough to make a tour pretty much fun and it does have enough needs to be having an idea of and going through with the way out.
