    Living costs in Delhi

I'll be moving to Delhi next year for higher studies and I was wondering what the cost of living there would be like? Is there a great difference in living conditions between Old and New Delhi? With the kind of news we hear of Delhi, I'm a little scared to be honest. But such things cannot stop us from pursuing our goals.
I would also like to know the staple food of the place. I'm from West Bengal and we usually have rice, fish, daal for meals. Is Delhi predominantly vegetarian?

    Moving to Delhi

You won't have to face big problems in Delhi and if you're shifting to new Delhi then there would be no such problem. Every type of food would be available for you in Delhi. About the cost of living there, then i would remind you that every city has varying rents. It depends on you to select a suitable place for staying according to your position. You don't need be scared because every place has a good and simultaneously a bad point as well.

Welcome to Delhi bro. No, you won't encounter any problems here. Meals like daal, rice and fish a also common here among Biharis and Bangalis. And there is no such thing as New or Old Delhi. They are all the same - Only the name is different. Come on over

Everything is available in Delhi. I know that one place to get cheap lodging is in Pahar Ganj. The place is loaded with cheap hotels, which is why it's popular for travelers coming and going from Delhi. For a longer term stay, it might be smart to start someplace like Pahar Ganj then take time looking for the right long term fit.

I think you would not face such a big problem. Living cost in Old Delhi and New Delhi is not so much difference. Like foods, house rent all are almost same. So you have no need to worry.

    Re: Living costs in Delhi

From my experiences in Calcutta, I'd say that the cost of living in Delhi is certainly a bit of a jump. North Delhi has a massive student population so you'll find affordable housing and food there. South Delhi is upscale so the costs over there are a bit higher.
