Why is the leaning tower of Pisa so catchy?

The Tower of Pisa is one main reason why people visit the Italy. Though i know that the tower is lightly tilted and that's why people come to visit it but would love to know that what else contributes to the reason why people come to the place so much and they specifically have interest in capturing pictures in different poses.

It is a very popular tourist destination because it is a true innovation in the field of architecture and construction which took 344 years to make. It was almost demolished or destroyed 4 times in the past and people still make the effort to keep it standing.

Why Tower of Pisa So Special

It's definitely because of its history, plus also for the fact that it leans. It would also be famous though because the tower of Pisa is a cathedral of Italy, or also known as the belltower of Italy.

Tower Of Pisa Not worth Going. Not Recommended

I really do not know why people find it so attractive. I have been there with a friend, stayed 20 minutes and then left. It is really sad actually. Most of the people there just go so they can have pictures of themselves in ridiculous poses while they pretend to keep the tower from falling. You would not believe how many tourists do this there at any given time of the day.

I believe that the Leaning Tower is catchy because it instantly sparks a person's imagination and cause them to wonder why a tower may be leaning, what is making it leaning, and when it came to be that way. It's very fascinating and intriguing and that makes people want to visit and see the site.

It is unusual to see a leaning tower. I guess, that makes the Leaning tower of Pisa really unique. Aside from its history, the tower is really interesting. It is a good place to visit and very well known all over the world.

This is what you'll see when you go to the leaning tower of Piza.
Although I'm a fan of architecture and the history behind the leaning tower of Piza is pretty interesting, I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

I think the reason people like to go all the way just to take a picture over there, is mostly because this practice has became a real symbol among tourists. Personally I don't feel the least bothered by this tower, it's just like any tower out there, the only difference is the fact this tower is not a perfectly straight one.

I do believe it has interesting historical and architectural things about it.

But for tourists I think it's the European equivalent of those old American roadside attractions, like the word's biggest ball of yarn, or those dinosaurs in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Re: Why is the leaning tower of Pisa so catchy?

There are a couple of reasons why it's so famous: firstly it really is a leaning tower, it began leaning even when it was still undergoing initial construction. It's the novelty of having a tower that leans without falling over!

The second reason is that it is a beautiful building and has become such a romantic, iconic image of the town of Pisa and the country of Italy in particular that it just continues to fire the imagination generation after generation.

It's a really beautiful building and intricate considering its age. It's a very good example of the romantic architecture of the time. It's not as big as I thought it would be though. When I went there I lost the nerve to climb the steps since its so narrow and there were no railings. Since I didn't want to come tumbling down no climbing for me. I think it holds a lot of appeal because it symbolizes the Italian's spirit of not giving up. It also reminds us of how important culture is to them and that their culture is so rich because they give it proper importance.
