    Hitchhiking in Italy

I've done my fair share of hitchhiking around Europe, including Italy, but I've heard that it's illegal. Does anyone know why it's illegal or if it's very strictly enforced? I remember seeing police almost everywhere I went in Italy and I never had any problems. Was I just lucky or were they lazy?

"I can't find anything that says hitchhiking per se is illegal in Italy. It's illegal on expressways, but that's true pretty much everywhere."

So there. But from what I know I don't think hitch-hiking [anywhere] is safe anymore. So if you have to hitchhike then by all means remember [safety first].

Hitchhiking is only illegal on the highway, however it's not common at all and any hitchhiker will have a hard time, you were probably lucky. I think the best way to move around is carpooling, it's not very popular right now but there are some websites that offer a lot of options.

Hitchhiking is super dangerous! I think you have been more than lucky in so many different ways. As Nevermore said, hitchhiking is only illegal on the highway. I'd recommend you to start thinking of a new way to get around Europe, because you never know who you will meet the next time you are given a ride.

I totally agree with you! Regardless it is legal or not and whatever is the country you are visiting, and even in your home country, hitchhiking is the most dangerous way to travel that anyone can think of.

That would be a lot of fun for sure and the kind of outcome we get to see throughout new jersey to niagara falls bus tour moves ahead and it has a very decent way to get the impact of it.
To me the maximum way to get the best is to arrange it all.
