Planning a trip to Malaysia. Can anybody tell me what to do, see and experience?

    Hi

I'm planning a trip to Malaysia for late December or early next year. I've had friends go overseas and visit, but I would like to ask a little bit more inside information about what to do, places to see, places to visit. I'll be travelling with a group of friends, and we'll be basically backpacking. We don't mind modest accommodations but we're in it for the experience.

I would suggest visiting the Mulu Caves. It has a big underground chamber and lots of places to explore inside. Every evening, bats always swarm out of the exit of the cave and it is such a spectacular sight to see.
And of course, when it's Malaysia, the Petronas Twin Towers should always be in your itinerary. I suggest lining up at around 7 a.m for the ticket to cross the sky bridge which is just worth it once you're there. They also have showings in the auditorium about the architecture and history of the Petronas which is also worth watching.

Thank you for your helpful advice. The Mulu Caves sounds like a promising and exciting place to visit. I've experienced caves like that in my home country, and I will expect there will be the stench of bat droppings. We will definitely visit the petronas towers. As for the presentation for the architecture and history of the tower, I doubt my companions aren't into that stuff. Do you have any more suggestions regarding adventures similar to Mulu Caves? Any indigenous tribes or sideshow attractions that you could recommend?

I have to recommend Georgetown (Panang) in the northwest. It is a small island (and very fun to ride around on a rented moped) and the mix of cultures there makes for some fantastic interactions, people-watching, and eating! In one day, you can dine on authentic Chinese food, spicy Indian, and traditional Maylay cuisine in small local street-side restaurants and shops. Fruit stands with locally-grown tropical fruits round out the diet and the experience. It is a part of the country not to miss!

I was born in Georgetown and Likethepear is absolutely right! You can go visiting the very picturesque Chinese and Indian quarters one minute, take your moped for a 20 minute spin, and then end up on a beach. The hills are also not to far from the city center and the only thing I will complain about my hometown is the relative lack of an efficient transportation system like in Kuala Lumpur.

The small restaurants, stalls and food stands are a must! I have friends from Kuala Lumpur who fly in on weekends (Airasia, really affordable if you book early) just to savour the Penang foods! They basically go on an eating tour and snack their way around town!

I can say Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful city. A lot of good places can be seen. You can use the tour bus "hop on hop off". It will cover the whole tourist spots inthe city. You can hop off to the bus, then see the place then ride to the next bus that will pass by. You can see the Petronas tower, the KL tower, Merdeka, China town, there is an aquarium, Zoo, for the kids. You can shop at bukit bintang. Outside the city you can check the Batu cave, you can reach the cave after climbing almost 300 steps. Genting highlands is another good place to see. You can go there by bus and a cable car. There's a casino and theme park

I'm all set to make my trip in October. I'll be visiting Kuala Lumpur only since I won't have the time to cover the entire country. I have the Petronas Towers, Batu Caves, Mulu caves, Kuala Lumpur Tower, KLCC Aquaria, K.L.Bird Park, and maybe China Town too. Since we're staying for only a couple of days I don't know how much we can squeeze into actually seeing. I'm particularly looking forward to the Petronas Towers and the KLCC Aquaria which is said to be the world's biggest aquarium!

Generally experiencing things that are appropriate and helps it all big time needs to be taken care of and moves with the right way into it new york to niagara falls tour package is always supportive and that proves to be one of those activities which are truly appealing for the outcome we see.
