I would suggest avoiding the local taxi cabs because they tend to go through the longest route and charge you more. Even if you report them, the authorities can't really do much. Just take the railway services if you are going somewhere. It is cheaper and safer in the sense that it has designated routes and fixed prices.
I would also suggest avoiding Chinatown and Menara Telecom Tower.
Mr. Strata, you seem to have a lot of knowledge regarding Malaysia and travel in general. Are you a Malaysian national or have you traveled frequently to malaysia? I came across this post for more info on Malaysia. Thanks for all your helpful advice so far.
What strata12123 has suggested is right. The transportation is already so good and extensive that you don't really need to take a cab. However, I actually do like Chinatown. I guess you just have to haggle a lot there. I love the night pasar malams especially the places that sell fake branded goods. The shoes always look so nice and original and the Nike sneakers are amazing but they always quote you ridiculous prices at first, often more expensive than the originals. I have haggled for a pair of Nikes from 200 ringgit to almost half at 115 ringgit but I still feel ripped off. However, the quality is great and I have had it for more than two years now.
Try to avoid crowded places like the Chinatown. I know it is fun to see different items in low prices, but watch out for pick pocketers. I suggest to go early when it is not yet crowded. I also had a bad experienced with a cab driver. My hotel is located near the Petronas tower, but he charged me so high. But not everybody. I told another cab driver about it, he advised me that if I will ride a cab always ask to use the meter because lots of drivers are taking advantage of the tourists.
Try to make sure you get onto a metered taxi. This will save you the time spent haggling. Generally avoid the area around Jalan Petaling (Chinatown) unless you are looking to buy fakes. The quality varies, of course but if you're mentally prepared for it, why not?
Avoid the smaller lanes around Jalan Petaling and near the Pasar Seni MRT stop. That area often has pickpockets and snatch thieves targeting tourists.
Thank you Mayvin for posting this question! I'm going to Malaysia this October and all that I just read on this thread is going to be insanely helpful! The first thing tourists tend to do is trust cab drivers to take them places. Thanks for all the warning!
As for Chinatown, people have actually been suggesting that I make a trip to that place 'cause they sell a lot of good stuff cheap. Can you explain why exactly many of you are advising us to avoid the place? Is it only because we have to haggle a lot?
If you get the help of a guide i am sure stuff like bus tours from nyc to maine guided me quite goodly when i was focused on these terms and this experience was pretty good to me.
Nice information,thanks for sharing guys.
If countries were awarded for diversity, Malaysia would top first place. Not only is Malaysia a melting pot of ethnic cultures, but it is also a blend of many different customs, cuisines and religions all coexisting peacefully together.

I have no idea about the Chinatown, I have never been there visited yet, But I would like to get sufficient and massive information about it and also like to see some images of the place. I am eagerly waitning for it. I hope you will like to reply me.
I would say Malaysia is a beautiful destinations that grabs visitors attentions towards it again and again. But it is also having some danger zones those tourists must avoid. Like Lahad Datu, that offers some of adorable destinations to explore but also known as a risky place where you could be kidnapped by some of mafia groups. So if you are planning a tour there so must avoid Eastern Sabah areas to go. Be safe and explore all of its safest places.
new york niagara falls toronto tour was my life's best journey that i ever had.
Malaysia is no doubt an amazing and outstanding destination around all over the world. Because I have visited there once and was very surprised after seeing the alluring destinations. Still like to be there again and again.
All the spots which does exist and choosing one between those is necessary because of the way tour bus to niagara falls works and it carries a certain appeal that does impact us the most in the same way taking care of the places that should be considered and those that should not is an important thing after all.
