    Favorite mexican celebrations?

For me it would be the ''Day of the Dead'', mostly because the way they celebrate it in the south of the country; a lot festivals full of colour and tradition. Things get really interesting at night, because all the people like to gather in the cemetary... they eat there too. It's like a nocturnal picnic, there are candles and flowers everywhere! They celebrate it in a very differeny way in each city, but if you go to the south, you can actually find a lot amazing festivals and parades during this time of the year. Everything is so colorful and not depressing at all.

I also like the ''posadas''. I'm not a christian person, but I love going to posadas. Those small parties are celebrated before christmas, they're nice because you get to enjoy some nice foods, like for example: champurrado, tamales, pastel, ponche, etc.

What about you? What are some of your favorite mexican celebrations?

I've never been in Mexico for a specific local holiday but as a Californian Day of the Dead and Cinco de Mayo are both celebrated. I love Day of the Dead, but Cinco is sort of like St. Patrick's day; a big excuse for everyone to get drunk, which is fine but I can really do any time

LOL, zlemune, I laughed at the getting drunk part :P It's nice to see some mexican holidays are celebrated in California It must be because most of the people living there are from south of mexico, they tend to be more traditional. The people from the north don't really like to celebrate those holidays, at least not in the way they should!

    Mexican Independence Celebrations
The initiation of the independence movement in Mexico started on the morning of the 16th of September of 1810 when the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla called the people in the town of Dolores Hidalgo in the state of Guanajuato to fight against the Spanish.
