Street Food in Mexico (Comida de la Calle)

A really interesting mini documentary covering the most popular street foods in mexico. A really nice mini documentary, specially if you're interested in knowing more about real mexican street food! A person explains what things like ''suadero'' and ''longaniza'' are.

Thanks for sharing this video. I always enjoyed the street food in Mexico...so flavorful and savory. Very different than what you get in the US.

Mexican street food looks and sounds really good. I usually would feel uncomfortable about eating food on the street, but I think I would make an exception for this. Thanks for sharing this video.

You're welcome You must be careful when you buy things from one of those places... I generally try to avoid them as much as possible. I prefer to buy my food from places where they have everything safely stored. In mexico there are many places where you can buy food from the street, they're very cheap and convenient if you're in a hurrry

Thanks It really is tasty! I haven't had the chance to try ''longaniza'' and I don't think I ever will, but I've heard it's amazing. There are many foods that were left out in this video... like for example the traditional ''tacos al pastor''. They also make the best fish tacos ever, you can find those in places like sinaloa

Thanks, Adam, but whenever you eat street food in mexico you must be really careful, because a lot places where this food is sold aren't very hygienic! My mom ate at a place in mexico city that wasn't very hygienic, she was infected with E. Coli as a result. Just be careful with the places where you decide to eat.

Re: Street Food in Mexico (Comida de la Calle)

My first time in Mexico a family friend took my family and I to a restaurant that was on a street corner. He ordered us ceviche and it was amazingly good. Then I had to go to the bathroom. To get to the bathroom I had to walk by piles and piles of fish. They were just sitting there on the floor, dead but not cleaned or whatnot. Of course, flies were just swarming around the fish. It didn't leave a good taste in my mouth but I never got sick.

I often wonder how other restaurants store their food, especially those street side carts. However, I've eaten at many different places since moving here and haven't once gotten sick.

Yikes!!!!! You are sooooooooo lucky you didn't catch anything serious after eating ceviche at one of those ''puestos''. I cant think of something worse than eating something with fish in one of those places, well maybe something with pork meat would be way worse You are a lucky man! My mom got infected with pylori in Mexico city, to this date she has't managed to get rid of it.

    I know I was lucky.

I've only ever been sick, as a result of something I ate here, once. It was ceviche that a friend made. I think it was the mayonnaise I had with it, though, because I was the only one who ate the mayo and the only one who got sick. Man, lime and cucumber does not come back up well; it burned.

Had I seen the fish sitting out on the floor, like that before I ate, I would have asked for something a little safer. Especially since, there is no way my immune system can handle something like E. coli. Even though it's not customary, I cook the seafood I use when I make ceviche; just to be safe. As a whole, we only at at places, we think, are clean now. You never know though, if you're eating out, there is always a risk.

Same here! I really don't like the idea of ''cooking'' your fish with lime juice only. It doesn't feel safe at all. Some people even do this with shrimps and octopus! Yikes! I don't trust this ''cooking method'' at all. I rather cook (with actual fire) the fish a bit with some lime juice and water.

Trillium! Mexican street food is very famous. I've heard a lot about it and after reading your post it sounds really awesome. I would love to eat that amazing food once in my life. When I was on niagara falls usa tours. I tried a little Mexican food from there, and that was really yummy.
