    Attractions For Kids In Oslo

Oslo, the capital city of Norway, is a very popular tourist destination during the summer. The weather remains very pleasant and is ideal to tour this Scandinavian city. There are lots of things to see and do in Oslo and even the kids can have a gala time in this Nordic capital. Oslo has earned a reputation as a leading kid-friendly destination in the world. For this reason many tourists (with kids) prefer to vacation in Oslo during summer when the schools are closed for holidays. The list of 'things to do in Oslo for kids' is not restricted to theme parks and aqua centers only. We recommend that you cover the following sights if you are coming to Oslo with kids.

    1) Norsk Teknisk Museum
It is very hard to convince children to visit a museum on a vacation but Oslo boasts of at least 2 museums which are geared up for the little guests. The Norsk Teknisk Museum is one of them. It is a basically a technology museum located on the northern part of the city. It has a number of working models and a whole range of interactive exhibits (touch and push) where the kids can spend a lot of time. There a café and a separate area earmarked for small picnics. The entrance fees to this museum are -
    Adults 90kr
    Children 50 kr

    2) Det Internasjonale Barnekunstmuseet
This is the first art museum is the world which is fully dedicated to the children. The museum exhibits spending artworks by children from as many as 180 countries across the world. The majority of these artworks are drawings, textiles and sculptures. Even if your kid does not have any inclination towards art, he/she will love this place as they will come across creations by children of their age only.

    3) Holmenkollen
The Holmenkollen Ski Jump is easily the most popular tourist attraction in Oslo. The children will love the ski jump simulator which is installed here keeping the young crowd in mind. In the simulator one can ski downhill against the best in the business.

    4) Frognerparken
This is a favorite attraction among the locals and the visitors. The much renowned Frogner Park has a number of entertainment options during summer months like jogging, sunbathing and skateboarding. You will come across many people walking their dogs here and while you are here don't forget to have an ice-cream or a chilled beer.

    5) Mini-cruise on Oslo Fjord
There are a number of hop-on/hop-off cruises which are conducted on wooden sailing ships. These vessels can only be seen in the Scandinavian countries. The kids will love this fun-filled cruise as the boat will take you past important landmarks like Akershus Fortress, City Hall and the all new Opera House of Oslo. The cruises are held throughout the year and there are four departures per day.

Oslo is not one of those typical places where kids will get amused at every step or will find so many things to do that they will be in fix; in fact, the city will be an off-beaten destination for them. But that doesn't mean that they will be bored. They will have the opportunity to discover new things and explore a totally different place.

Also if there is some thing which i forgot to mention here about Oslo which is a must visit for children do tell me in this Travel Forum

Yeah! Oslo is a nice city of Norway. There are very beautiful attractions for people. My uncle and his family visited it during last summer vacations. They really enjoyed the destinations. Amusement parks, Aquariums, Farm holidays, Skiing lessons and different other places are there for families.

You missed Oslo's new architecture :

Oslo has become a capital of contemporary architecture. Recent years have seen the addition of modern landmarks by world-class architects, the emergence of a brand new skyline, and the onset of city development projects that transform old areas and create new ones.

Between scaffolding and busy cranes the face of the city keeps changing – these are exciting times to walk our streets!

You missed Oslo Reptile Park :

Oslo Reptile Park has more than 100 animals: boa constrictors, grass snakes, geckos, chameleons, varans and other lizards, a poison dart frog, beautiful tarantellas and a black widow (the world's most poisonous spider), a dwarf crocodile, monkeys, turtles and fish.

Every Tuesday at 5 pm you can watch the feeding of the animals. The boas eat mice, rats and rabbits (de-frosted) and the lizards eat insects.
