    Favorite country in Africa

Africa is a very diverse and fascinating continent. What is your favorite/most interesting/unique country in Africa? What are some things to do there?

The country in Africa with lots of attractions

My favorite country in Africa is Egypt because the amazing destinations it has. I love the Giza Necropolis and the river Nile cruise . Another attraction i like is the Red Sea Reef . The Egyptian Museum is also included in my list of the places i would like to see in Egypt. Though i have never been to Egypt but i love the country.

My favorite destination in Africa is South Africa. The place overflows with natural heritage and at they same time they have modern places of interest to visit. Sometimes you never know whether you are in Africa or in another part of the world. there you get a little bit of everything and a whole lot of fun!

Mine would have to be Malawi. The lake is a great place to be but so are the mountains. I spent most of my childhood in the nothern region but it's a very different place now. It would be cool just to spend a few weeks at the lake, going out to Likomo Island and messing about in dugout canoes like I used to do then making the trek up the mountain to Livingstonia. Great country.

I'd have to say Burkina Faso. I lived there for two years (my father was a diplomat) and of the four African countries I spent a significant amount of time in, it was easily my favorite. The people there were so friendly, and you could travel about the country quite easily...well alright, the roads could get bad, but it wasn't dangerous or anything (as long as you were off the roads by night, since accidents could easily happen after it got dark), and the villagers were always so welcoming and friendly, and always eager to chat and feed you.

The funny thing is Burkina Faso is, I believe, one of the poorest African countries, while Gabon (another country I lived in) is one of the richest. But none of the money in Gabon actually gets to the people or the country, while in Burkina, whatever there is, actually is used to keep up the main highway and support the infrastructure. And just living there, and getting to know the people, you can really tell the difference.

Well the only country I've visited in Africa is Egypt so I'd have to say that. But if I had to choose I'd say South Africa and Kenya are in my bucket list. I've always wanted to visit the rainforests of Africa so Zambia and Zaire would also be in that list.

I couldn't agree with you more Eudora. My favorite country to visit in Africa is South Africa. It's a very beautiful country. The beaches there are nice and the overall landscape is great. I love the culture and the people of the country too. I would like to stay at the Singita Game Reserve while I'm there. A close second is Kenya. I would like to have a safari while I'm there too. I also like Zambia.

I want to go to africa, maybe I'll consider egypt and other countries in south. I heard some news that are not good about africa, but I think they generalized the whole place. Anyway I think no matter where we go there is a good place and a bad place. I hope to go there next year.

I know eveyoneone has said Egypt, but I just don't care to repeat that again :P I actually like Egypt and Morocco. The latter is a really interesting place to visit, specially if you're interested in the franco-arab culture. If you're interested in good gastronomy, then Morocco is the place to go Egypt is a wonderful place, but right now is not the best time to visit... it's a really turbulent time over there! According to my friend (an egyptian) he says the police is not even doing its job.

I'd be interested in mission work in some of the more desolate regions. Western Sahara for example. I'm not necessarily looking for luxury, but rather an experience.

    Re: Favorite country in Africa

I think when choosing a destination say in Africa, you are looking at something which you haven't seen before rather than that which you already have seen in your land. Yes the beaches may differ but that will be to a less extent. If am to choose, i would suggest either a remote lifestyle and see how they cope with life, or something that is breathtaking. Africa for sure has got it all.

Uganda has not got a mention here yet and though they have the land size as England, they have a mix of things and hence the ealier whites to come to the land termed it as the pearl of Africa.

Let alone harboring the largest lake in africa, but all so the source to the longest river in the world ( River Nile - 6,400 kms 4,000 miles). It has over twenty tribes and each with its own rituals something of interest to many. Any of those have a story to tell.

The Game is exceptional for it is captioned with a natural flora. Bwindi impenetrable forest national park will come to mind. It habors the endangered gorillas. 748 Gorillas are believed to be existing currently and bwindi habors half that popn.

The scenary in queen elizabeth np is breathtaking. In total you are talking about six national wilderness parks with countless wild animals plus birds.

The mountains like Mt.Rwenzori in the west with organized tours can take you away through the fauna and flora that is mind-washing and you will see what doesn't happen else where in Uganda ( the snow ). The heritage sites, the hot springs, the equator and all that comes with having the nile ( white water rafting, fishing in the nile, bangi jumping, the falls ( the nile squeezing in a 7-meter gap) just to mention but a few) can only make this a definate mention in the countries for pure pleasure for someone to come and visit.

The people are very friendly and on top of everything it is a safe country. The nightlife is in its own world as few countries in Africa party all night.

Never thought of Uganda as a destination in Africa. My kind of trip over there was either to Egypt or the ex-Belgian Congo, but while Egypt is not longer like a good place to visit right now, visiting Congo over and over cannot make sense having other countries around, and Uganda sounds like a good option for the next time

I have friends in Uganda, Kampala. My friend always told me how beautiful the flowers are in her village. She also told me about how the landscape itself is just lovely. I always wanted to go but she advised me that I did not want to go. As an American we aren't welcomed everywhere but I would like to know what countries in Africa are friendliest to tourist.
