    North Korea

So... in less than 2 months I'll be traveling North Korea for the first time. It's been a dream of mine for a long time now. Yes... I know I'm "crazy." I'm just wondering if any of you have been there, and if you've got any advice or comments on what it's like?

Wow, that sounds like it will be interesting. How are you traveling there? I don't believe they let just anyone in, do they? Very interested to hear what your intentions to visit there are and how it was when you get back.

You will likely stand out like a sore thumb, don't expect much in the way of relaxation, and do tell me how you got permission for this? Are you like an aid worker or something?

I'm traveling there from Beijing by private tour, which is currently the only way to travel to North Korea. There are several companies that do tours there. Obviously you are monitored at all times and cannot go anywhere without a "guide." In addition, all of the things you see are carefully controlled and in some cases fabricated. Still, it will be fascinating, and I will be there for the Mass Games!!

If you're interested, here is the company I'm using:

Its very daring of you! One day I'd like to see North Korea myself. Being a very isolated country, I'm sure it will be quite an experiences. I hope it all goes well, don't do anything without thinking twice, maybe thrice! I saw the link you posted, which one is you?

Wow, can people actually visit that place? I mean people who are not north koreans? I thought no tourists were allowed to visit this place If you go, just be careful... I heard that place is really scary! By the way, what are you planning to do over there? I just can't imagine what someone could do or see there. I bet there aren't than many things to see over there... in my eyes NK is like a huge slave camp.

A million horses couldn't drag me there. I'm pretty sure that Americans can't even travel there. Have you ever seen a propaganda video from North Korea? Pretty crazy the things they feed their citizens in the name of "information".

I also don't know what you could do there. I know that if you take pictures of certain things they confiscate your cameras. Internet is restricted too. They're pretty militant there.

Nice, I didn't know these tours were available. Though, as you already mentioned, everything you see will be tightly controlled and most likely "fake."
Still I'm sure it's going to be a very interesting experience, I for one would love to do it! Good luck and enjoy it!

Lol, is this actually a real thread? i just clicked on it as i thought it was a joke! But now that i see it is real then i envy you. North Korea must be so different from anywhere in the world that it fascinates me. Probably heartbreaking to see all of those hungry people - if indeed you see any people! So please post back your experiences on this thread and tell us all what it was like.

That's pretty crazy, I'd definitely like to visit North Korea one day. There was a documentary on it I'll try and find and basically the whole trip these guys went on was a propaganda trip and everything was bugged and they were only being shown the "good" parts on a tour.

North Korea is the beautiful country of East Asia. I never visit there but I heard about it through my friends. They told me that is nice place for visit. A lot of visitors go there and had great time there. I want to go there once in coming months. Can you share more information about it.
