Almost 80% of countries can obtain their visa at international airports holding their normal passport with at least 6 months of validity. Some of international airports which issue visa on arrival (VOA), are Bandar Abbas International Airport, Isfahan International Airport, Kish International Airport, Imam Khomeini International Airport, etc.
It is convenient yet relatively risky for your visa request might be rejected. So it is highly recommended to obtain your visa through an embassy and a consulate general of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It should be noted that Israel passport holders and whoever that has an Israel stamp in their passport will not get a visa.
Except for transit visas, all visa applications must be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Tehran. Majority of people do get a visa within two or three weeks but needed actions must be taken early.
Visitors to Iran are mostly interested in historical sites. Thanks to its rich history, Iran hosts to foreign tourists obsessed with old days all year round. Among all numerous monuments, some are more outstanding, recognized by the whole world.

Ask anyone in any country, what do you recognize Iran with? Almost 90 percent would answer Persepolis. Persepolis or as Iranian say, Takht-e-Jamshid was once the capital city of the greatest Iranian Empire ever. The name Persepolis has Greek origins meaning Persian City.
King Darius the Great ordered constructing the city at its site around 518 BC. He later announced Persepolis as the new capital of Persian Empire, instead of Pasargadae, where is now home to the tomb of King Cyrus the Great.
The city is located 70 km northeast of the city Shiraz, the provincial capital of the Fars province. Persepolis was declared as the world heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1979. Visiting Persepolis must be in every traveller’s to-do list.
