    Visiting Holland from Mexico

Hi all! I might be going to Holland the next months, but I've read I might need to get a traveller insurance before I get there. I was wondering if any of you had any idea if this is a mandatory thing or if it can be skipped? Can they deny me the entrance to the country if I don't get that traveller insurance??? I don't need visa to travel there (can stay a max of 3 months with no visa), but I'll be carrying an invitation letter stating I'll be staying somewhere in Amsterdam (address, phone, etc). Please, only answer if you are 100% sure! This is a serious question!

Sounds odd... normally travel insurances are voluntary. To be 100% sure I'd get in touch with the your embassy in Holland, they should be able to give you an accurate and up to date answer.

I find it odd as well, I've visited other European countries and they never asked for a travel insurance. It's been a while I don't travel to Euope tho, so I've no idea if this could be part of some new rule, thus making it mandatory for me to get it. I guess I'll ask my friend to check, I could be traveling there in November or January.

I don't recall needing it either when we went, but it was the year 2000 so things may be vastly different.

Yeah, I'm afraid a lot things have changed ever since. Last time I was in Europe was back in 2007, and so far I've heard a lot changes have been made I noticed a really HUGE rise in the prices of plane tickets! This trip will leave a huge hole in my wallet, lol.

Did you get a definite answer for this? Might be useful to post it here so others can find it too.

Not really... I don't really know if I'll need to get a traveler's insurance to go there, but I guess I'll find it out! I'm getting an invitation letter tho Just in case... I've been to Europe before, but it's been a while. I hope nothing has changed! Hopely I'll face no troubles, I'll ask the airline folks just in case I've my passport and my ''crossing'' visa for the US (good when you have to take connection flights in the US). It's actually cheaper this way. We'll see what happens. I'll talk about this once I come back from that trip... I'm several months away from that tho.
