    Budapest-Things To Do In September?

Has anyone been to Budapest? I am going there in September as part of my Europe trip. I hear that the hot baths are a must-do but what else is there? Are there any good museums or cafes around the city? In addition does anyone have any travel tips regarding public transport?

    Thanks!

The top activities to carry out in Budapest

That would be amazing. Other than the hot baths you should try Celeritas Shooting Club where you get real pistols to shoot. Gresham Palace in Budapest is a must visit hotel with good food. You should also check out the Chain Bridge and Buda Castle .

I haven't been there personally, but my ex's family was from there If I were you I'd check the ''Rudas Baths'', they say this place was built back in 1550. It's definitely a place of interest. Specially if you feel like enjoying of a nice thermal bath. You can also visit the ''Museum of Fine Arts''. Don't worry, you will find a lot cafes over there as well.

About the public transport... there aren't that many things to say about it; the public transportation system in Budapest is very efficient. You shouldn't face any kind of issues getting around the city All the public transport services are provided by BKV It's a great company... has been around for a looong time!

Budapest is a beautiful city to visit. If your looking for museums they have this awesome place called The House of Terror related to the communist past of Hungary. Also try the Hungarian Nation Museum and The Museum of Fine arts. Their are a lot of other galleries and museums to see as well as nice churches, if you can try to go to the Royal Castle of Buda.

Thank you guys for the great suggestions! The House of Terror sounds like a gem and I appreciate the reassurances about public transport! I'm very excited to go now

I second Trellum, the public transport system is fantastic. And yes, The House of Terror is a really moving museum. I actually visited it the first week it opened. There were several people in our tour group, old women, who had actually lived through the times the museum was depicting...it was really sad but really left an impression.

I also have to recommend the circus! The Budapest Circus is really fun. It's not huge. Just a small one-ring indoor circus downtown (in fact quite close to the baths), but it's got a lot of character and is really nicely down.

There are also tours of the Parliament is can be a lot of fun, especially if you know a bit of Hungarian history.

....and, sorry, I'm really not trying to list to much stuff...but I loved Budapest so much! The Margitsziget (or Margaret Island), there are some interesting ruins to see and it's just a nice place to walk around.

Depending on how long you're in Budapest you might consider some day trips out of town. The train system is really good and there are some really interesting towns just a few hours out of Budapest.
