Beach Activities For Kids And Toddlers

What are some fun things for kids to do on the beach? I'm taking some young 'uns to the beach, and I'm not sure what to do with them. I'm not sure if I should take them fly fishing or whatever (they're around 5). What do you think I should take them to do? Also, I was wondering if there's anywhere in the Philippines where one can learn surfing, because that's always been something I've wanted to do.

There are lots of places to learn to surf in the Philippines. The first and foremost is in Siargao, which is the surfing capital of the Philippines. You can even visit Zambales and find local beaches there who have surfing instructors who teach you the basics for a price. The best way to go about it is to get in touch if some sort of surfing union or group, and they will gladly help you out as to where you can find the best surfing spots for beginners.

For kids though, most water activities are for older children, teens and adults. Water parks are more suitable for children because it's a safe and controlled environment. If you're looking to take your kids to a beach, then the best would be shallow clear water beaches. Most kids would just like to swim and play. Boracay would be nice but you'd have to keep an eye on them.

I might think about water parks, actually! Where are some good ones where I can take the young ones? Are there any near Manila? I'd love to take them somewhere with one of those wave machines, where you can feel like you're in a real ocean or lake with a real current, if you know what I'm talking about. I went to a water park with a wave simulator when I was younger and I loved it, so that should be fun for them.

Thanks so much for all the information! I will definitely check out Zambales and all the other surfing places you mentioned.

There are a lot of water parks and resorts that are just only 45 mins to an hour away from Manila. You can try out Splash Island in Laguna, Island Cove in Cavite or 8 waves or Amana Waterpark in Bulacan. There are a lot of resorts in Bulacan and Rizal.

I'd say avoid water activities. Five children is a lot of responsibility, you don't want to take them snorkeling or cliff diving that's for sure. I suggest fizz-bee, sand castle building, beach soccer and kite flying. A lot of resorts have swimming pools, Its best to have them swim there.

For surfing, try Baler in Quezon, I hear they have great waves and a good surf scene over there.

For the kids, I think it's best for them to just go to water parks because there will be lifeguards around. If you are by the beach though, maybe they can just go to the kiddie pools or stay by the sand and build castles and tunnels. Beaches here don't really have lifeguards that's why.

With regard to the surfing in the Philippines, you can go to Zambales. It's probably a 3-4 hour drive from Manila. Specifically, you can try Crystal Cove as they are known to give surfing lessons and gave the Roxy/Ripcurl events. La Union is further and a more popular destination for surfing as well.

Kite flying, sand castle building, bury each other in the sand, fishing, tag, seashell collecting, scavenger hunts, etc. Kids are pretty easy to entertain

I would go with Splash Island. The place is small enough that your kids won't easily get lost. But also big enough that they won't get bored. The amenities are great and they really thought of everything you would want in a water park. The prices of the restaurants are ridiculous though. Although I guess that's to be expected from these kinds of parks.

Kids can play with sand on the beach and also can take their pets with them.

There are many places to have fun for kids but According to my point of view Amana Waterpark is a best to have fun for all kind of visitors. I have been there numerous times in my life. Every time had lots of fun there. Many travellers and fun lovers go there each year with family and kids and spent really amazing time there. Tourist can enjoy there hiking, trekiing. kayaking, camping and golfsurfing.
