    Switzerland

I am planning to travel around Switzerland in summer. I would like to know more about the languages spoken there. I am fluent in English and French but I will not only be traveling in the French-speaking West of the country, I will be going to the German-speaking parts as well as Ticino in the Italian-speaking area.

I would like to know (from either Swiss nationals or people who have lived and traveled in Switzerland) if English and French are enough for communication (I will most likely go trekking in remote valleys in the German and Italian parts) or are the regions really separate and Swiss Germans do not speak French and Italian and Swiss Italians do not speak German etc.

How do Swiss people communicate when they meet compatriots from other parts of the country where different languages are spoken?

    Re: Switzerland

In the regions where German is spoken the education system there demands that everyone should be able to at least communicate in English so visiting those regions for example: Basel and Zurich, you could get along with English well enough,

In other parts especially where French is spoken then you just have to know French. You know how French speakers believe their language is the best. . .

Yes adam222! I want to share the most famous tourist’s points of interest in Switzerland. Switzerland is a small country the attractions are very close to each other. So it’s easy for you to move one side with others and see the top tourist’s points of interest.Do visit the Geneva,Swiss national park and Mount Pilatus.

    Geneva

Mount Pilatus: Mount Pilatus is the best for walking with various trails.

Swiss national park is also considered the most visited and the famous tourist’s attractions.take the bilking tour and also enjoy the hiking and see the variety of animals there.

I like to visit Switzerland. it is a mountainous country of Europe. it consists of numerous lakes, villages and the high peaks of the Alps. I visited there and stay there for two weeks. I enjoy there a lot and spent remarkable time there. it is an ideal destination for history and natural lovers. so I recommend you to go there once and enjoy there as well as I had.
