    Thailand

I have lived in Thailand for over two years, just returned recently. It's a beautiful country with lots to see and do. Lots of really delicious and fairly priced food as well. If anyone has any questions or is planning a trip there soon, feel free to ask me anything.

Thanks! I've got a couple of questions.

I'm working as a freelance translator and tech writer in Europe and I intend to spend some time (2-3 months) around Krabi in Southern Thailand. I can work anywhere so long as I have good Internet connection. Do you know a quite, safe place in Krabi Town or on the islands nearby where I could rent a house or room (with good Internet connection or wifi)? I'm basically looking for a "base" to work for a few months, and with the low cost of living in Thailand, I can really live within my budget!

If you have any suggestions, do let me know. Also what would the cost of living be like in the area?

    Thank You!

I didn't spend a lot of time in Krabi but it is a really beautiful island. The Internet outside of major cities won't be great and even in the major cities it can be unreliable. A lot harder to find non hotel accomodation on the islands as well comparing to the cities. The great thing about Thailand though is there always a nice nix of cheap and expensive accomodation. Phuket isn't far from Krabi and there are plenty of houses for rent outside the touristy areas. If you rent for a few months you should get a good deal. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    Thanks for the information!

I have some friends working in Krabi and yes, they have told me pretty much the same thing! I'm still keen to visit the area and and possibly live there for a while. I really like living near the sea, and you're right, it's a beautiful island!

Thank you for the information anyway!

Price Of Good Accommodation In Thailand

No problem. I hope you find what you are looking for and have a great trip. There are many developed cities with decent priced accommodation where you can also live by the sea. I was paying about $500 for a luxurious condo that was a 5 minute walk from the beach. But if you are only looking to live on an island then that is different.

    Living Costs In Thailand

Thanks Ohyesuare! I don't really mind staying on the mainland. I'm just looking for a nice place to relax and work in peace for a few months. I've been asking some friends who live near the Phuket-Krabi area and I should be getting a response any time now. Yes, the price of property and real estate is so low in Thailand, it is unbelievable! Not to mention the food!

We're also considering Thailand on our first trip abroad since it is a nearby country and I've heard that the exchange rate is fair so spending might just be as if we're shopping at home. However, my main concern is the weather. I've heard that temperature out there can be as high as 35 degrees celcius?

Yes it’s true "Phil30". Very warm air temperatures and very warm water (29 °C) too at Thailand, warm enough for wearing board shorts and a rash vest in the surf. Cloudy, but feeling very pleasant in and out of the water.

    Re: Thailand

In my opinion the best time to visit Thailand is between November and February because it is not hot months. During this time you can watch the Loi Krathong festivals. In these months you can enjoy a pleasant climate and tour prices are also very suitable.

I suggest tours from new york bus tours to niagara .

    Re: Thailand

I agree with alicke, one should visit there between Novembers to February. This is the time when you can enjoy the actual beauty of different area of this country. But if you want to visit there during summer than that’s not a problem because some of hill stations in Thailand remain cold even summer season like “Doi Ang Khang” in “Chiang Mai” and “Phu Chi Fa”.

Join niagara trip from boston because it has something special for you.

I visited its many places but due to the shortage of time I could not visit its shopping malls. Would you like to tell me about its famous malls? I want to do many shopping for me and my family.

No doubt Thailand is the beautiful country and the island of Koh Samui. I have explored this country one time in my life and explored this island and some other attractions there. My experience was really nice there. The attractions f this country are fabulous which are attention grabbing. I wish I could explore this country again.
