    Countries Blacklisted By France

Frances blacklisted 16 countries last May.
What are the repercussions of this move to the travel industry altogether? Was it a good or bad move?
    What do you think?

I really don't think this will affect the travel industry at all. It's more of a political thing and I highly doubt that 99% of French citizens care about it at all. I've lived in France for the past 5 years and I try to stay up to date in news and I hadn't even heard about this.

I think it was a wise choice. A country really needs to stand up for itself and it's people when there is risk involved. They did it due to lack of information and possible risk of fraud. I'm sure they experienced a lot of this before making the final decision. Unfortunately, there probably will not be a big loss to France's traveling system because these are poorer countries.

If they felt they had to do so, then that is their stance and I respect it. That said I doubt they'll see much of a hit if any. The bulk of their tourism is going to come from places like the US, other parts of Europe, and certain areas of Asia. So they'll be fine.

Uhm... why did they add Switzerland to the list? That's kinda odd! I don't seem to understand what the UAE is doing in that list either. Those 2 countries don't sound to me dangerous at all! Specially Switzerland! Does any one know why Switzerland is in that list? The other countries in this list are no brainers for someone who has even a little knowledge of politics... but Switzerland????

Read the article... this whole reason for blacklisting has nothing to do with safety etc. it's about financial laws.

The blacklisting has to do with international finance and politics rather than terrorism. I would not be too concerned with it. Most French people would not even know about the existence of the blacklist. There is no reason too worry or to be overtly concerned.

I think it was a good move because it could help improve the safety of passengers going places.

Sigh. We can't really get rid of this blacklistings on every country. It's a good move actually, just for those people who don't have good intentions during their travel.

In my opinion this is not going give any adverse impact on tourism industry. Majority of tourism come there from U.S and Europe. So it will not harm tourism.
