I was curious for people who have traveled to Turkey if they can tell me a location that's to be avoided? I just want to make sure it's a safe trip, as much as possible.

These days there are a number of demonstrations occurring in Turkey, mostly in the major cities. Istanbul and Ankara are of these cities. Therefore it is advised to the foreign people visiting Turkey to avoid these people in order to have a safe trip.
Just as previously mentioned, you should avoid any demonstrations in those major cities, during these protests, you'll find many reports of clashes with protesters and police. Your also gonna want to avoid the southern cities bordering Iraq and Syria. It is generally advised to exercise much caution when traveling to Turkey. Try to do some research online before traveling to a place your not sure of and use a lot of common sense. If your a woman, be extra careful and try not to go around Turkey without a companion, if your going out to a club or bar to drink, be extra vigilant as their have been many reports of women being victims to date rape drugs.
You might want to avoid Istanbul or other large cities, there are a number of protests/rallies occurring and you could possibly get hurt. The protests get pretty scary after the police decide to smoke out the protesters, so even if you do go to Istanbul, please be careful. As long as you stay out of the big cities yous should be fine. Good luck.
My boyfriend was in Turkey recently, if you are a tourist... I'd avoid exploring the city (whatever city you visit) on your own. I'd stick to a tour, seriously...! My boyfriend did that and managed to come back safe. If he wanted to party a bit or eat something different, he just went across the street (there was a night club and many restaurants nearby). I'd not recommend going further, I'd try to stay as close as possible to the hotel if I were you.
before going anywhere make sure thay there is no political issue in the country or any other issue which can harm people specially tourist. but if there is any protest or distrubance in the country dont go there, postpone you trip or go somewhere else.

Mayvin!! I would say Turkey is one of most safest and coolest place to explore, specially for history lovers. It is a safe place but i would say there are some certain places where need to be careful a bit like Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Kilis, Hatay, Sirnak, Mardin and Tunceli these regions are bordered with Syria and mostly terrorist attacks occurred there, so be careful when ever you decided to go there.
Nice information!
