First time in the United Kingdom?

If I was to take a tourist vacation to the United Kingdom for the first time, where would you recommend I go? Are there any sights I shouldn't miss? I'm a big nature person, but I also don't mind spending time in impressive cities. I mostly just go for eye candy, when I am on vacation somewhere new.

    London!

I know it's obvious, but I think you at least have to spend a day there if you go to the UK, it is really a great city in every sense of the word.

Beyond that I confess I haven't see a ton of the country so far, but I want to put a good word in for the Midlands and the North. They're not as sexy as some other destinations, but getting outside of the cities and driving through the rolling hills and fields dotted with small villages is incredibly charming. Yorkshire is beautiful, Leicestershire is lovely, it's all quintessentially English in a way that was unexpectedly wonderful when I first saw it.

How long is a piece of string? The list of places to visit in the UK is endless. from cities steeped in history to travelling north through the rolling countryside and National Parks. Scotland for it's fantastic heritage and high mountain ranges. The south west of England for it's beaches and rolling moors and Wales for it's countryside miles of white sand beaches and castle remnants from long ago.

For the first time tourist I guess London is a must. The official home of the monarch, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, the London Eye and a plethora of theatres.
Contact the UK Tourist Board for in depth information and plan your itinery from there. Good luck and enjoy.

Thank you guys! I have definitely kept London on the top of my list. My father was there many years ago, and he still tells vivid stories of the city and the sights he saw. So it must've been one to behold. The little villages sound lovely, as well. Hopefully I can tour them, as well as Scotland.

Is anybody here more familiar with Scotland? It sounds wonderful, but I wouldn't know where to go.

During my visit to England, I particularly enjoyed the big bus tour of the city. I took the weekend package so I managed to get the best of it. I ended up knowing the city better than some people who don't take the time to realize how wonderful and rich in history it is. My country adventure was a train ride to Worcestershire and Cumbria. Breathtaking is all I can say. the country markets are a breath of fresh air and people are extremely friendly!

Thank you for the reminder, safari. I've actually always wanted to just take a train ride through the country! So I will add that to my list of ideas. The big bus tours are tempting... I would probably do it at least once.

If I were you, I'd go on a tour to all the places that are said to be haunted in England That's the ideal holiday for me tho, since I'm a big fan of the paranormal. I'd visit places like: the london tower, Woodchester Mansion, Salmesbury Hall, etc. That would be a memorable trip, I'm very sure

Depends on if you are wanting to see urban areas or rural? The lake district is a beautiful national park where many A list celebrities even visit.

I do know that London is vast and covers 650 km squared! So that has much to see.

I am from the UK so would be happy to help be your guide on any questions you have!

Haunted England tours are exciting and, once again, London is the best place to start your trip. You could also visit Stonehenge whether out of curiosity or to connect with the paranormal force that is supposed to be there.

You can also embark in tour of Castled of England or visit the countryside and enjoy Scotland and Wales landscape.

Correct on that part, there are many castles. The whole country offers much vast wild country side with lush greenery and mountains to explore if that is your kind of thing.

That would be pretty reasonable seeing such responses that helps it all and generally new york niagara falls tour would always be supportive which in terms has the best packaging and it carries out the best for us.
