    Thinking Of Visiting Hollywood

I've seen enough of Hollywood in movies and would like to visit some of their best attractions. What would be the best way to go about this? Go out there by myself or take a guided tour that would be quite expensive?

ALSO, if I intend to stay a night in Hollywood, how much money should I arm myself with?

I am sure if you do some online research you can pick out studio tours and other attractions that appeal to you. There are enough outlying areas to stay in if you find the rates in Hollywood too expensive. Since there is so much to do in Los Angeles in general, I think you can put together a really nice stay (including Hollywood) and find it quite enjoyable for not too much cash.

I'd recommend sleeping somewhere a bit further away, it should be a lot cheaper. I wouldn't do a whole guided tour, however I would look into some smaller tours of different studios etc. Search around and see what you like, then try to plan it out before going. You can always spend more than a day there if it's necessary.

You can stay in a hostel if you don't mind about luxury. They are certainly cheaper, you can meet a bunch of people, they offer breakfast and have tours of their own you can join. I stayed at the USA Hostel in Hollywood, and while it's certainly not great, it's relatively clean, quite safe and the location is in the heart of Hollywood! I recommend it.
As for tours, the historic walking tour was really great in my opinion, and also the Dolby Theater tour (where they have the Oscars). There are also nice places like the Madame Tussaud wax museum and the red tour bus by Starline (I guess it's called hop on) is cool if you want a tour and also transportation along with it.

You can see the big houses of the celebrities in hollywood. It's one of the attractions. You can also check the wax museum. I don't have any idea about the prices of the hotel because I have a friend who live there. I stayed in her house. Don't get a hotel in the center or city. It's very expensive. There are many things that can be done once your in hollywood.

The "heart" of Hollywood is at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd and Highland Avenue. There you will find most of the most famous Hollywood tourist attractions such as hand/footprints.

I think one of the things visitors to California forget or maybe do not know, is how close the major cities in Southern California are. You can see all the attractions in LA and it is less than a two hour drive to San Diego. So San Diego, Orange and LA county are so close that you can stay in outlying areas as I mentioned above and still plan to see all of Southern California, even if you save just a couple days for each County's attractions.

I recommend doing some research online on travel sites. I also recommend talking to people you know have been there, in person. It all depends on what you want to do while you are there, and everybody is different! If you stay a bit further away, it would be a lot cheaper.

If you are going to Hollywood, I advice you to be prepared to spend a good amount of cash. If you can, avoid staying in a hotel near the most touristic zones, if you do, that's just going to cost you a lot. If you can try to find one of those tours that show you where the stars live, my mom totally loved that one! Plus is a must if you want to visit this place, I find it amazing that there still are some actors and actresses still living there. You can check the chinese theatre as well, the walk of fame...

That can be a good plan for you if everything goes according to the plan. Also instead of going to Hollywood you can try thousand islands cruises which is quite impressive with services and a lot of fun in reasonable prices.

Not to hire a tourist guide it is too expensive rather to hire a tourist guide purchase a GPS featured cell phone if you not have just go to google.com search the address of the place you want to visit and enter this address into GPS in your cell phone . you can easily get all directions.
