    Cost of a hotdog

I was in NY city and was shocked when i was charged $6 for hotdog from a street vendor. I knew the cost of food was higher in the manhattan touristy areas but i assumed street vendors wouldn't be too bad.

How much is a decent hotdog in other states (proper thick sausages not frankfurters)?

Here in SF depends a bit on the area. In the highly touristy Fisherman's Wharf area they run around that same range. But the possibly less official carts selling 2AM hotdogs to drunks leaving dance clubs in the Mission run closer to $3.

It's not too crazy here. It's been awhile, but I seem to remember hotdogs in DC costing under $5.00. I'm a little surprised that a street vendor was that expensive too, even if it was in New York. Maybe that particular vender was just greedy?

I live in Oregon. If I go to downtown, for example, one hotdog usually costs around $3.75, which is quite expensive because it doesn't include any drink or anything. Plus, one hotdog isn't enough for me. Wow, that's quite an expensive hotdog in your state right there!

Here (northern California) they'll run you about $3 or so. We have a lot of gourmet hot dog stands here though so they can definitely start to get up there in price!

In Southern California, you can get a decent chili dog for 2 maybe 3 bucks. A lot of tourist spots sell a plain hot dog for a dollar or a dollar fifty. We have a lot of fast food outlets that sell em for 99 cents to two bucks, like Der Wienerschnitzel and Sonic.
