    Route 66

I know this is long gone, but does any of it remain? Anyone travel it while it was still a thing?

I don't even own a car, but I've always loved the mystique of the great American road trip, and Route 66 is the granddaddy of them all.

cadillac ranch 3.jpgCadillac ranch.jpgI have travelled the route but taken the freeways and diverted and visited parts of Route 66. Many times they will call it a "business route". One of my favorite parts is through Texas. If you go to Amarillo, Texas you can see the famous "Cadillac Ranch" a favorite of car and road trip finatics. I have shown the view from the street and up close at the cars. It is a bit hard to find from the road, but it is near Helium Road exit on the service road.

Here is a link to a turn by turn map for you as well:

The Mother Road: Historic Route 66 - Turn by Turn Road Description

Hope that gives you a bit more to think about. It is a great trip.

Oh cool, that is a nice comprehensive site!

Of course now I'm wondering if it's all on Google Maps... hmmm.
