Star gazers-Have you ever been to a place well suited for viewing?

I used to visit friend in the High Desert area east of Los Angeles. They took me to a small town called Pioneertown, California. Westerns used to be filmed there. There is a small old west hotel and even cabins to rent in the area. Many people go to the area for horseback riding, riding ATV's in the desert or to visit nearby Joshua Tree National Park. It is also an incredible area for stargazing, meteor showers and the like. Do you have any suggestions for places that are quaint and lend to star gazing at night?

Desertic zones are great for that If you are very far from the city it's even better, because of the ''light pollution'' most big cities are responsible of. Sadly is no longer possible to star gaze in my city for that same reason, but is funny to think it was possible to gaze at stars some years ago... I used to go that whenever I was in the garden. It was magical

Several years ago a friend and I drove from California to New Mexico in an RV, we made a point of visiting national parks and spent a lot of time a little off the beaten path. I vividly remember being at the top of some pass or mountain on a freezing night, and looking up at the stars. It was amazing, we were miles from any light pollution, high up, and the visibility was astonishing.

I think that anywhere where there's no ambient light would work. I do agree with the others, though. I bet a desert view would be something to see! No air pollution or light to outshine out the stars.

I have been the about few months ago with my whole family during my holidays. We all had great time there and had lots of fun there through different activities that touris can enjoy there. In my point of view it is a best place where tourist can visit and had great time there. What will you say about it?
