Things to do in San Francisco

I would love to take the trams up and down the steep streets to take a few snap shots of the lovely views.

Without a doubt crossing the golden gate bridge is a must and I would love to sun bathe on Ocean beach.

Have any of you ever been?

I have been to San Francisco only once, which I enjoyed it a lot. I went to the Golden Gate bridge, Universal Studio, and the beach in somewhere in San Francisco, which I couldn't remember which beach it was. Speaking of Universal Studio, you got to go there. I really enjoy going there, and I felt like I was in the movie market or something. The time I went to Universal Studio was the time when the first Nintendo DS console came out. I don't know if you know about the Nintendo DS game console, but it was very popular when it first came out. I went to one of the stores at the Universal Studio, which they showcased the first Nintendo DS game console. That was the time I remember my first trip to San Francisco. Another place you can go is Palm Springs, which I would be going next time when I have a chance. I have heard great things about Palm Springs, which is a good place to shop.

I am from the Philippines and moved here in California a year ago. I've been in San Franciso 3 times besides working and appointments. The first time, was after few months I arrived here in the US. I was very very excited. We went to see the Golden Gate and almost cross the bridge. Also, we went to Pier 39, watched the Seals, enjoyed the beautiful scene of the city. If happens you will come back here, don't miss to visit the Conservatory of Flowers at 100 John F Kennedy Street it is located at the Golden Gate Park. Inside, you can see a different varieties of butterflies, plants, orchids and more. It is beautiful adventure for a cheap entrance fee. Also, consider to stop at the China town for your lunch or dinner at the Chinese Restaurant. But expect an almost hour looking for a parking spot on the weekend.

You should go to the Golden Gate Bridge AND the Golden Gate Park (so nice), Pier 39 (and hang out in that overall area, it's very pleasant), also go to the Union Square for shopping. The overall vibe in SF is awesome! I lived 1 hour away for 1 year and I went there every chance I got.

There are so many things to do in San Francisco but let me list a couple that I love doing when I visit my uncle there. I know everyone says go to the Golden Gate bridge but while you are in the vicinity don't forget the Golden Gate park. It is lovely there, do see the Japanese Tea garden, flower conservatory and the windmills. A lot of people go to Fisherman's wharf to see the sea lions and grab something to eat. Some miss going to the WWII submarine museum in the vicinity though and that's a shame. Oh and don't forget the Aquarium at the Bay. There are 20,000 aquatic animals there and you can get really close to sharks and rays in their clear acrylic tunnels.

We just got back from San Francisco yesterday! All your ideas sound great, but you might want to reconsider sunbathing as San Fran is a foggy and cold city most times of the year. Since it is in Northern California, San Francisco doesn't get the warm, sunny beach experience atmosphere like you would see in Southern California. You might also like Pier 39, which has a lot for tourists to see including the Aquarium at the Bay which is pretty cool. You could also want to take a boat ride out to visit Alcatraz.

Oh, I remember I rode the cable car in the Chinatown of San Francisco, which was a great experience because that was my first time riding it. I haven't been to the Aquarium before, but would like to go visit when I have a chance in the future. There are so much to see in San Francisco.

I have an architecture book devoted to San Francisco, and many of those building located all over the city are good places to visit.

It's a shame that I left that book at my sister's home last time I visited her, otherwise I could transcript you the names of the places that, except for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company old building, escape off my mind.

I also have heard that the garden has one of the exhibits there, cannot remember the name, but it is an awesome place to go. You can also look at the while San Francisco from the top. If you like Chinese food, China town is a great place to go too.

Are you sure you guys really mean Universal Studios? That's in Hollywood, which is Southern California.

Unless there's some theme store at Fisherman's Wharf, or something?

A city with as wild and exhilarating a nightlife as San Francisco is not to be missed – whatever your choice of entertainment,I went ALEMBIC -Relaxed and cheerful, Alembic has become a favorite among San Franciscans for the quality of its drink and laidback atmosphere. The bar staff here don’t just serve you a drink; they create beautiful cocktails for you to enjoy. Again and again. Snacks and main course food are available, and the high ceilings and mirrors mean that the small bar never feels crowded, even when filled with some of San Francisco’s finest.

Okay, again I think we have some drunk commenting or something XD

Palm Springs is in Southern California, a good seven hours drive south of San Francisco. Universal Studios is in Hollywood which is a district of Los Angeles, likewise located in SoCal. On a more minor note, Chinatown is all one word

It looks like folks might be using Google in an attempt to be helpful, but maybe lets stick to talking about places we know a bit about more directly?

Sugar Castle at the Westin St. Francis Hotel at Union Square is 12 feet high and was constructed using more than 1200 pounds of sugar and flour. The castle is on display now through January 3.

Oh cool, I have to be in downtown SF tomorrow as a matter of fact, so I'll have to swing by the St Francis and check that out. I've never been in the hotel, but it has a lot of local history (I believe it was the location of the Arbuckle scandal) so it's been on my list for ages.

Tourists can do a lot things in San Francisco, one of those things would be having breakfast at ''Mama's''. This place is said to offer the best breakfasts in town. I heard they serve really well as well. During the weekends it can get really crowded, so you better get there early.

You can't miss the historic trolley car either while you are there. While you are there you can go check the ''castro'' neighborhood.

Growing up in the east and being a die hard San Francisco 49ers fan since I was a teen.....going here is actually a dream of mine. I actually plan on trying to make it to Santa Clara in the coming hear because the new stadium is located there.

Ooh, that's a good point, if you're into sports AT&T park is also pretty cool and right down on the waterfront. It's entirely possible to visit the Ferry Building (which has tons of good food) and wander along the waterfront before/after catching a Giants game.

Ride the Cable Cars. Get the good seats up front and ask the operator to ring the bell.

San Francisco is a famous city in Northern California. It offers amazing attractions to its visitors such as Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and Golden Gate Park. Golden Gate Bridge is my favorite attraction there. It is one of the top ten construction achievements of the 20th Century. I used to visit this recently and enjoyed there a lot.
