Has anyone ever worked in America for the summer or on a long term basis?

In 2009, I travelled to America and worked in North Carolina. The place where I worked was on the coast and made up of a ninety mile stretch of islands called the Outer Banks. I worked for a company called Kitty Hawk Kites, a recreational company that specialises in Hang gliding, they also have retail shops along the Outer Banks. I essentially took reservations for people wanting to do the activities. As I was a member of the team I was encouraged to experience the activites that I was selling, so I got to go hang gliding, go on the dolphin tours, and go kayaking, it was an amazing experience and gave me the opportunity to do things I would never do in the UK.

I always thought American's were false in the way they were over the top, however I now believe they are genuine, they are extremely welcoming and make you feel at home, everyone is quick to offer help and will always help you solve any problems. I would recommend anyone to experience a summer working in America.

Has anyone ever worked in America for the Summer or on a long term basis? Or is anyone thinking about doing it?

That sounds like a really awesome experience Thanks for sharing it with us, sadly I have never worked over there (the US), but I have worked in other places, like Sweden and Norway. Soon I might be working and living in the Netherlands, but I must confess I always thought that working in the US would open the doors to so many interesting experinces and oportunities. Just like it did when I worked in Norway and Sweden. I'm totally in when it comes to working abroad If it was for me, I'd have stayed working there longer, but I had to go back. The payment wasn't super, but I had great experiences, just like you did.
