    NY Downtown

Why is the New York downtown the central business district of New York city and why is it such a busy and crowded place?

Why NY Downtown Is So Crowded

The New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Gold Reserve building is located downtown, as well as a lot of bank and corporate headquarters. It is only busy and crowded during office hours, Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm. Most of the people who work in this neighborhood live in New Jersey, Connecticut or Long Island. During holidays and weekends, downtown New York is practically a ghost town. There is also the other downtown, from 14th St until Chinatown (both east and west sides) that is full of life no matter what time of the day, or what day of the week. In this neighborhood you can find underground clubs, cocktail places, restaurants of all kinds and sizes, lounges, and bars.

As said previously,It can be a bit of a ghost town after office hours but there are still a few Irish Bars open around the area if you fancy a good night out. Restaurant and theatre wise, however, you are better heading toward mid town.

It is such a busy and crowded place because that is where a lot of money and businesses is located. You have people from all over the world that come there just to do business. It's the city that never sleeps and it doesn't sleep for a reason. On top of that, it is nothing but entertainment down there. Everything you can imagine is there. It's not a place I would want to live but only to visit. Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta or just some of the major cities in America where you can find some business.

Obviously this is the central place of the city, all the main market of the city belongs to this place so it will be rushy all the time.

I have a little bit information about it because I heard about it through my friends. I have a plan to go to there during my West Coast tours from los angelos once in my life. I will stay there for four days. So can you share you experience if you ever visit there. I am waiting for your reply.

Alex deserves more than one, rushed day, IMHO. I'd stay in Cairo this time or take a day trip to see the Canal, with lunch at Ismailia.
