    Shopping!

Where are the best places to go if you want to shop while vacationing? Name them all - I love the mom and pop shops and bakeries!

If you are going to NYC, there is a place called Tokio7 in the East Village, on 7th St between 1st and 2nd avenues that sell high-end designer pieces. Most are consignment pieces, and there are also a lot of sample pieces (sample sales are the clothes that were used on the runway during fashion shows). My best NYC secret. There is another place called Gabay's on 1st Avenue between 13th and 14th streets that has a great selection of shoes, mostly overstock from Barney's, Bergdorf, Bendel, and Saks. On 7th Street, between 2nd and 3rd avenues, is The Village Scandal that specializes on hats of all kinds. Try to look up Jacques Torres chocolates for whimsical confections, they have stores all over the city. And Chelsea Market on 9th avenue between 15th and 16th streets is fun, there are a load of stores inside from clothing to cheese, fruits, shellfish, marmalades, bakeries, kitchen wares, Italian specialties, wine, and find a spot in one of the benches, it's great for people watching.

As for cities, there's no place better than New York City. You can also find some great vintage stores in Wlliamsburg, Brooklyn if you're into that. As for other cities, LA has amazing shopping, as does Chicago. My favorite thing to do is search for hole-in-the-wall vintage stores because you can get really unique stuff there. There are usually neighborhoods in every major city where you can find a bunch of these.

Well mostly clothes shops, but there are also many tourist stores which sell items and souvenirs that remind you of the specific location.

About 8 years ago a friend and I took two weeks and shopped the outlet malls of the South. It was great fun planning the route and we made sure to stop at the small towns along the way and do a little touring. We should have incorporated bakeries into our tour... unfortunately this was before the big bakery revival of the past few years. Back then cupcakes were only something you saw at the PTA bake sale!

    Unique Shopping Experience In USA

I like to shop at the strangest places that there is. If it's something so different that I've never shop at before I will go in and try to buy a souvenirs. I love different businesses. I get bored if its just the same old Macy. I want something new and different and exotic. I love going into the little village in some places and by hand made things because they're more artistic and more special. I can tell people that I got it from Hawaii or some sort. When I travel I like to look for things made from that town or village so I can remember it. I don't like to buy things that are like where I am from. The more unique it is the better for me. I love places like open air market. I love to walk around and experience people.

I like going to local shops, small boutiques. If it's readily available in any major city or online, it's not much of an adventure to me. I especially love browsing through the thrift and consignment shops.

I like to shop at the small shops that are exclusive to the town that I am in. In other words, if I'm visiting a town I don't go to Wal-Mart or Target. I like to visit the small shops and play patronage to the small business owners because that is the foundation of America. I also always try to buy myself a postcard from the town that I am in. They are easier to store than other souvenir type items.

There is a massive underground mall in Toronto that has a wide variety of shops. I just get a kick out of the fact that it's underground, plus there's only pedestrian traffic!

It's better if you google your area's top store and check out their deals and if you find anyone good enough for you so shop their.

Houston comes in at No. 1 on the list.Houston might be a big city and sure you can spend days buying up the shopping malls, but for me the best thing has always been the boutiques that are somehow both 100% Southern.
