Santa Fe, New Mexico Georgia O'Keefe Museum?

    hi gang,
I'm looking to book a trip to New Mexico in September and would like to check out Santa Fe, primarily because of the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Any tips on what else to do there? Spas? Other museums? Restaurants? I will be doing a mother-daughter trip, so no crazy backpacking excursions.

You can try the Eldorado Hotel and Spa near W. San Francisco St., as well as the Anasazi Restaurant along Washington Ave.
You can also visit the Santa Fe Plaza National Historical Landmark.

I've lived in Santa Fe for about 2.5 years now, and can offer you a few tips. First off, the Georgia O'Keefe museum is just okay; I was actually a bit underwhelmed by it. It does have some nice art, and a great educational video about her that runs on a loop, but the museum is small and one can see it all fairly quickly. If you want a bit more of an authentic O'Keefe experience, I'd suggest driving up to Ghost Ranch and the Abiquiu area, where she lived and did many of her most famous paintings.

As far as what else to do, the plaza is always nice, although it get's really crowded during the summer. Museum Hill, south of the plaza, has a few great museums, including the International Folk Art museum, which is absolutely spectacular.

There are good restaurants downtown, but also some good ones where you might night expect. I can't recommend highly enough either The Pantry or Tecolote, both on Cerillos Road.

Have fun on your visit to Santa Fe, and let me know if you have any more questions!

    Georgia O'Keeffe Museum Surroundings Attractions

Santa Fe is beautiful! Definitely take your daughter to 10,000 Waves. Its very reasonably priced, quiet and peaceful...ideal for some down time. The Blue Corn Brewery by the mall has wonderful food and if you're looking for a funky local place then hit Counter Culture (take cash). The Plaza Cafe is nice but overrated, I'd suggest Tia Sophia instead. There are tons of walking tours by the Plaza which will incorporate the museums. I'd also suggest day tripping to Taos and Los Alamos. Santa Fe is friendly but touristy if you get out to the bordering communities you'll get a better feel for the community.

Thank you all for the feedback! I didn't realize Taos was so close, so we'll have to weave that in...and as for the Georgia O'Keefe museum, thanks for the tip on that. We'll have to check out the other areas you mentioned.
