    Best Chicago Eats

I'm planning a road trip into Chicago for the end of the summer and I was wondering where the best place to go eat is? We're dying to try the famous deep dish pizza the city is so famous for, but where do we go, with so many places claiming to have the original, best in town!
Also, food trucks, my family loves the idea of great food trucks, where are there is a significant lack of them, where do we go for those?
    Thanks so much!

Best places to eat in Chicago

Most of the restaurants in Chicago have the deep dish pizza in their menu so you won't be having any kind of problem regarding where the best deep dish pizza is available. Chicago's best restaurant is El Ideas and i would also suggest you to visit Alinea and Goosefoot. These restaurants would surely fulfill your requirements and you would fall in love with Chicago

My ideal dining is typically high end, so I'm not sure I will have great tips for pizza or food-mobiles
If you do happen to want to try an amazing restaurant, consider Joe's Crab Shack or Everest.
Everest is located, if I remember correctly, 40 floors up in the Chicago Stock Exchange Building. Fancy schmancy to the point that evening gowns/suits are not out of the question.
Joe's in not quite as elite as it started from the ground and has come up into a wonderful place. You still get the atmosphere, but the food is a bit more down to earth. They use many of the same recipes (family recipes) as when they started out!
As far as food stands, all you have to do is walk around downtown, near navy pier. You will see plenty of vendors that offer about the same quality of items!

You have asked a question that sparks long and heated debates in this city: who serves the best deep dish pizza? Some will say Gino's, some will say Pizzeria Uno, some will say Giordano's...and really, you probably can't go wrong with them. Personally, my vote is for Lou Malnati's.

I also feel like no one should leave Chicago without a stop into Portillo's. If not for the Chicago hot dog, a least for the heaven in a cup known as the cake shake.

Is Joe's Crab Shack the same as the chain of the same name?

Here are where I try to steer visitors to my home city looking for good eats:

    For pizza: Pequod's, Piece

For hot dogs: Superdawg, Hot Doug's, Jimmy's Red Hots

    For italian beef: Portillo's, Roma's

For burgers: Portillo's, Kuma's Corner, Riverview Tavern

For Chicago-style BBQ: Smoque, Gale Street Inn

    Hello!

I live in Milwaukee and one of the favorite things my family loves to do is take quick day trips or weekend trips to Chicago. My husband and I actually went there for our honeymoon!

I would say that out of all the pizza we've tried, we love Ginos! We went to Ginos East in the South Loop and had a great experience. We ordered a deep dish pizza with pepperoni and it was so rich and cheesy! I ended up eating one piece and my husband had two before we were totally stuffed because of how large it was. We didn't mind taking leftovers back to our hotel room for breakfast the next day.

The Walnut Room is also a fun option for downtown upscale dining. It is locate in the giant Macys off of State Street, so your family can do some shopping and then stop for lunch. The room in and of itself is gorgeous and you will love the views of downtown out of the large windows. The menu is a bit limited as far as options go, but the quality of the food is great. We took my mom there for her 50th Birthday after seeing Wicked the musical.

My husband loves the Hard Rock Cafe and Ed Debevic's. Both have their own fun aside from the food and are a good option for family dining. Their menus have many options and their decor makes the vibe of the restaurant come to life (Both are chains, I know, but they are not available in Milwaukee so we stop there when in the windy city).

Hope you have a great trip!

James, I am going to do agree with you. Best Chicago Eats is really a best topic as we can get lots of information from here about the best food points in Chicago. I have also visited this iconic city before my niagara falls tours but The Purple Pig is my favorite restaurant there due to its yummy food nad good services.
