    Thunder Hole in Maine

Maine is a beautiful state and anybody who enjoys the outdoors will love camping there. I don't remember everything there is to do there, but I do remember our camping trip was filled with nature! One thing I do remember visiting while we were there is a place called Thunder Hole.

Thunder Hole got it's name because of the sound the water makes as it hits the rocks. It literally sounds like thunder. It is a neat thing to see if you are in Maine, I was amazed by it and I hope it still sounds the same as it has been years since I visited it. All it is is the ocean water coming in and hitting the rocks. It is located in Acadia National Park, Maine.

Have you ever been there before?

I too remember going there when I was very young with my family. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's relaxing to just sit and watch the tide come in and smash the sides of the rocks over and over again. Also, on a side note, Maine is one of the most underrated states in the US, in my opinion.

I was a kid also when we went and was so amazed! I too think Maine is underrated, it is a beautiful state. We stayed at Casey's Camp which was right on Moosehead Lake. It was a great trip! Of course next time I go I will look forward to getting some fresh lobster for dinner.

I have never been. I do have a bucket list to visit each state, and I will definitely check out Thunder Hole. I actually clicked this thread just because of the name and reading the posts, it sounds amazing.

I live right near Maine, and have vacationed there a lot of times, but I have never been to Thunder Hole. I am definitely going to look into it for our next camping trip in the Maine area. I love it there, it's so quiet and peaceful and everyone is so nice and helpful. Not to mention the scenery is to die for!

Wow! I grew up in the midcoast area, ( Bremen/Damariscotta/Boothbay Harbor area of Maine) and had never heard of this place until now. Next time I head home for a visit I will have to check this place out, it sounds neat!

I like Maine, but I have generally stuck to boating and just sort of enjoying the coastal towns. Of course, it was generally me traveling through the state to get elsewhere like Jersey or Virginia or Massachusetts of course. That said it has a lot of natural beautiful.
