    Quintessential American Food

I'm often asked what a "traditional American food" is on my travels, and even though I'm an American, I find it hard to come up with one. Most of them are actually stolen from other countries. What, in your opinion, is a food that originated in the United States and is representative of American food?

    The traditional American foods

Haha That happens most of the time. You could have mentioned the Deep fried Turkey which is so popular or the cheeseburger which we get to eat so much in the US . How could you not think of the hot dogs or the steaks. There are so many things that originated in the US.

Both the hamburger and the hotdog originated in Germany. The hotdog came from Frankfurt (where it got the name "frankfurter"), and only got the name "hotdog" when it started to become popular in the US after being marketed for sale at ballgames. The hamburger originated in Hamburg, Germany (again, where it got the name). We popularize a lot of foods, but most of them didn't originate in our country, which I why I used the term "steal."

Pepperoni rolls - they were first made in West Virginia and are yummy!
