    Devils Tower in Wyoming

Have you ever visited Devils Tower in Wyoming? I did as a child and would love to take my kids there one day too. It was pretty amazing really! It is a huge monument with a lot of history and stories behind it. I don't remember all the stories, but I do remember getting a poster from there with American Indians standing on the top of this almost mile high rock monument with arrows in hand while a huge bear was at the bottom reaching up and scratching the grooves into the rock monument.

I remember learning a lot in their office before going out on a trail, and they also had a huge stuffed grizzly bear in there too just to show you how huge they really are. I am sure the office has changed a little bit, I went over 20 years ago. But the tower still stands the same and there are trails to go on around it.

That sounds amazing. I hope your kids enjoy it and remember it for years to come just like you do!

When I was younger we took a trip to Colorado that I will never forget. I don't even know how old I was, I just know it was one of the best times of my life.

How long did you spend there? I'm working on plans for an epic road trip, hopefully for next summer, and Devil's Tower wouldn't be too far off our route (going from Detroit to Yellowstone). It looks like the kind of place that would interest my son so I might have to add it to the itinerary.

Devils Tower is definitely worth seeing. Especially since it is not too far out of the way. A few years ago we went to South Dakota and Mount Rushmore. We took a day and drove from Rapid City. It was not that far and was a great day trip. The pictures I got were incredible. There is camping near by if you wanted to stay a couple days, but you can see the Tower and hike the trails in a day if that is all the time you have..

We were there for a few hours, but we were on a road trip ourselves. When I was a kid my parents took me on a road trip across country and we visited many states along the way - kind of zig zagging along the way to visit many things. I would say we were there for just a few hours, but this was a long time ago. I know it wasn't the whole day, but I am sure if you are into hiking that you could easily spend the whole day there.

Nature at its finest! What a great find seeing this way off in the distance and the awe of it once you're up close. I love the story of the girls that ran up the rock and the giant bear that tried to climb up after them and left the scratch marks down the side of the rock.

Devils Tower is one of the must visited places of the world. I also went there few years ago with my few fellows. It is an incredible heritage sight to explore in Wyoming. In this region we can see the rich blend of natural and heritage beauty.
