Anyone Tried Road Trip To All 50 States

Anybody out there try to do a road trip to all 50 states, or know somebody who did?

I think it would be something really neat to try someday when I'm retired! I would love to visit every state and say that I've seen the whole country. I wonder how long it would actually take if you spent a day or two in each state doing sight seeing and then took time for traveling also? I also wonder what the best "route" would be to take. I live in the midwest so I'd probably start high and travel across the top of the US. I would probably skip the states I've already been to, but I still have 30-40 some to go!

Has anyone ever done this or had a friend or family member whom did this?

    Road trip

When my kids were younger we took a road trip across the US. We did not see every state, I think we saw around 20). I want to do that when I retire, but that will take a couple years to really see everything. We took 5 weeks and left from North Carolina, through Texas, Arizona, route to California. Then on the way back we came back through Utah, Colorado, Missouri, Tennessee and back to NC. I know 5 weeks sounds like a lot of time, but we left each place feeling like we wanted to stay longer. It made a huge impression on my children. They still talk about it and want to take long road trips like that to see the country. We have such a beautiful and amazing country, it's hard to not want to see it all.

When I was young my parents took me on a road trip across the country as far west as part of Nevada but not quite to California. We did go through many of the states as we zig zagged and we stopped to see different sites in many of the states. We did not do all 50 states, but we did stop through a lot of them. Then I have been on other road trips all along the East Coast. I have been to or at least through the states from Florida to Maine. Road trips are much more fun then getting on a plane to a certain destination I think. You can see so many more cool sites that way!

Those sound like some fun family vacation memories! I would agree that driving is much more adventurous than flying. I've flown down to Florida a few times from Wisconsin, but have never actually been to any of the states on the way, just flew over them. We are considering taking a trip to Florida next summer and although my husband really wants to fly, I would like to drive. That way I could cross a few more states off of my "50 states goal" tally. I guess I would be happy just being in each state during my life than trying to do them all in one trip.

Seeing all 50 states is on my bucket list, but I'm only about halfway there so far (the eastern half). Road tripping is really the only way to see the western half, with so many of the must-see spots spread out or far from urban areas and airports, so some long distance road trips are in the travel plans for the next few years.

    All 50? Wow

Doing all 50 would be a chore. You'd have to rent a car in Hawaii or have your car shipped over.
Also, getting to Alaska via the AlCan highway is tough. It takes several days and the highway is very unforgiving.
It would be exciting though, I've done several cross-country trips, but nothing as adventurous as all 50 states!

No but that would be an awesome thing to do! I would love to have experienced what every state has to offer. Even though they are all in the U.S. each state is very different and has its own unique characteristics.

I would agree that each state has their own characteristics that make them fun to visit. The farthest West I've been is to Nevada and I'll never forget my first steps out into the desert air. Living in the midwest, I was used to a changing climate, but I had never experienced anything like desert weather. It was extremely hot and sticky all the time and I couldn't wait to jump in the pool at night when it cooled down a bit. The mountains were so beautiful and scenic, I had never seen anything like them before.

I remember going to Florida and seeing my first palm trees. I remember going to Disney World and being bummed that it was "always" raining during our week there. I loved running around outside, trying to catch geckos. In Wisconsin, we don't have little lizard critters like that all over the place!

I am arranging a trek to New York fourth of July week 2017. I simply cherish what you have posted on goals of how to deal with the day by spots to go see and places to eat. Perusing on your site makes me substantially more amped up for this trek.niagara falls ny bus tour packages This will be mine and my spouses initially excursion to New York, we are from California. Right now I have not reserved any spot for inn housing's and discover the determination somewhat finished whelming. Might want a 4 star in great area would you be able to perhaps prescribe any to me.
