    Centralia, Pennsylvania

I was wondering what the story is behind Centralia. I've heard some bizarre things like, the place smokes throughout the year and no one lives there anymore. These are still alright, but I've heard the place is "haunted". How far is this true? How did the place go down?

There are, last I heard, a handful of holdouts that haven't moved yet despite an evacuation order, but the town has been mostly emptied and the zip code de-registered with the USPS. It is one of my favorite ghost town stories, an underground coal fire that started in the 60s and is still burning today drove the residents out. The town isn't officially blocked off or anything - the road in and out is closed but you can get in on foot - but the ground isn't stable. There are sink-holes and seams where you can see the smoke rising, and I'm sure the air quality isn't exactly the best.

I haven't gotten there myself yet but a couple of my still-childless friends went on a "ruins porn" outing to take photos there a few years ago and it does look like a really fun, creepy spot to explore. I'm not sure how "haunted" the place is, though. The fire didn't start with an explosion or other tragedy, and I think the main reason it is so associated with ghosts/hauntings is that it was the inspiration for the setting of the movie adaptation of the Silent Hill horror video game.

Vaughan, would you like to tell me about Lapp Valley Farm? I never visited this place before during my Centralia trip. After seeing its name in your post I am feeling it is also a great place to see there. Now, I have plan to go there in coming August just after my watkin glen state park trip with my family.

Sounds decent to me because certainly things like that gives us a lot during that outcome for traveling bus tours from new york can take it all to another level and give us the basics to take care of.

Centralia is the most famous place of Pennsylvania. It has plenty mesmerizing attractions to the visitors. Ricketts Glen State Park is my favorite one destaintion of this beautiful place. I visited there before my bus trips to niagara falls. I had a lot of experience there and enjoy there a lot at its nature sights. It is an ideal destination for nature and adventure seeker.
