    Best zoos in America

What is your favorite zoo? My two favorites are the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, and the St. Louis Zoo. They are some of the last free zoos in the nation (the National Zoo is free as well... I just haven't been there yet!).

    Good and worth-visiting zoos

There are many zoos in America which you would like. I don't know if they're free or not but i can at least give you a list of the good zoos in US. The North Carolina zoo is good . Adding to the list we have Philadelphia zoo and also Audoban Zoo, New Orleans. Visit them if you like them and let us know about them as well

    Re: Best zoos in America

I grew up in the state of Maine, and the popular zoo to visit there is called York's Wild Kingdom. I believe their season is from May to September. The prices are dependant on what package you get, with amusement rides or withought. With no rides it's approximately 15$ for adults and 9$ for kids. They offered a Military discount last time we checked.

Currently we live in Washington state and have visited the Tacoma Zoo ( Point Defiance) and the Seattle Zoo ( Woodland Park). I preferred Point Defiance but I think Woodland might be larger, the Tacoma Zoo has an attached Aquarium, but there is also a separate Aquarium in Seattle. Woodland Park requires you to pay a parking fee. April to lay pet Oct, before it gets to cold, is a good time to visit and see the animals withought them hiding.

This last one isnt a zoo, but it's sort of a drive through Safari. It's a place called Olympic Game Farm and its also in Washington state. You bring your own 100% wheat bread to this place, pay a fee and then you can drive through the farm and feed llamas, buffalos, Zebras, Elk and Bears straight from your car window. The bears are behind a fence of course ( and one waves to you if you toss it bread) but the rest walk right up to your window.

    Re: Best zoos in America

I really haven't been to a lot of zoos, but the last I went to was The San Diego Zoo and I thought it was great. We homeschool and I had brought along my son's science book for information on the animals we had studied (kind of to remind he what he learned) and most of the animals in the book were at this zoo - even the weird ones. I wondered if the author had used that zoo as a guide of what to put in the book, or if it just worked out that way, but I was really pleased with the variety of animals they had. There were also some "extras" we enjoyed that made it totally worthwhile.

I've heard great things about the San Diego Zoo! I used to work for a cross-national company that had an office in San Diego, and the employees there dressed up for a fun web conference as animals. It wouldn't surprise me if that author used that zoo as a guide!

I have heard that Columbus is good.
The National Zoo in Washington D.C. is actually pretty bad.
Other than the pandas, the rest of the exhibits are old and archaic.
San Diego is, by far, the best zoo.

The Northwest Trek is also a great zoo to visit in Washington. It is a zoo filled with woodland animals, so you should not go there expecting to see a tiger, but it is a lot of fun. There is a tram that will take you around the whole open animal habitats and so you can spot some buffalo or an elk, or even a bear, mostly in their own natural environment. It takes at least half a day to go through the whole thing and you can eat at their wilderness food cafe.

No way...The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska is by far the best zoo . It was voted the best on tripadvisor.com as the best zoo in the world . The Henry Doorly Zoo has the world's largest indoor Desert located under the world's largest glazed geodesic dome , the Lied Jungle which is America's largest indoor rainforest . The Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium has a 70 foot shark tunnel which allows you to walk through as sharks , a sea turtle , stingrays and a TON of different types of fish swim over you and around you , you can go up to the glass and watch them swim right in front of you...The aquarium also has jellyfish , penguins , seahorses , more fish and many other types of sea animals...This aquarium also has a touch tank that allows you to touch various little sea creatures . The Henry Doorly Zoo also has a lot of other exhibits...including Expedition Madagascar , Berniece Grewcock Butterfly and Insect Pavilion , Hubbard Gorilla Valley , Hubbard Orangutan Forest , Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom Pavilion , Simmons Aviary , Wildlife Safari Park , Cat Complex , Cheetah Valley , Durhams Bear Canyon , Garden of the Senses , Giraffe Complex , Hoofstock , Owen Sea Lion Pavilion , Pachyderm Hill and several other exhibits , a petting zoo...Some things for children like a fossil dig...A carousel etc. But overall this is my all time favorite zoo . I seriously recommend it to anyone and everyone .

There is also a restaurant you can go to and it is connected to the Lied Jungle and you can watch the animals through the big glass in a tree (which is where the restaurant sits basically)

Now, I am going to share the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, big island zoo in the united state. I have visited there before my chinatown bus nyc to niagara falls tour. Here, I have enjoyed a variety of rain forest animals such as white Bengal tiger, spider monkeys, lemurs, nene geese (the Hawaiian State bird), and over 80 other animal species. I recommend to all members to visit there and enjoyed animal’s species and the best thing I found here is no admission fee would be charged there.

writestuff13! Few months ago I visited Lincoln Park Zoo. I was very happy to see it. It is one of my favorite zoo .Chicago’s free zoo is located just minutes from downtown Chicago at Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton Parkway. Visitors can go nose-to-nose with gorillas and chimpanzees. Lincoln Park Zoo also operates one of the largest zoo-based conservation and science programs in the country. I really wanted to go there again.

Nice sharing my friend! I impressed it. After visiting your post I am planning my visit to the Lincoln park zoo with entire family. Let me suggest an accommodation near the zoo. Do guide me which types of activities we can do there and which will be the best time to visit there. My entire family insisted me to visit the in the summer vacations. Do solve my all issues then I can easily plan my trip to the zoo.

There are many zoos in America but my favorite zoo is Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. It has more than 5,000 animals. The exhibits of animal are divided into regions of the world. This zoo has its own 18-hole golf course. That is known as the Safari Golf Club

Aaliyah ! According to me Zoombezi Bay At the Columbus, Field of Corn, Franklin Park Conservatory, Topiary Park are few attractive spots near the Columbus zoo and aquarium and offering many amenities to enjoy diverse things to see and do. If we talk about the accommodation then I must mention about the Sheraton Columbus Hotel at Capitol Square. I’m telling you that you will feel at home during your stay in this hotel.
I had great time to go with west coast tour usa.
