    Favorite Places Around Philadelphia

I live outside of Philadelphia and I am always looking for new places to explore. As finances are tight this year, my family will be doing more day trips this summer to places near Philadelphia. Now I have many places in the area that I enjoy going to. However, I was wondering what everyone here has on their must see list for the area.

Suggestions can include places in New Jersey? Most people that live near Philadelphia consider this to be close enough for day trips as well.

The only thing I can think of that might be interesting to some folks that's a bit off the beaten path is in New Jersey there's Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash that sells comics and has tons of memorabilia from Kevin Smith's movies. Obviously, this will only be interesting if you're a fan of Kevin Smith's movies, which at the time I was. I went to visit a friend of mine who moved to New Jersey, we also went to the Quick Stop where they filmed Clerks.

If you're looking for an off-the-beaten-path place, visit Centralia, PA. It's about 1-2 hours outside of Philadelphia, and is a (mostly) abandoned ghost town which had to be evacuated after the coal mine underneath the town started burning. There is still smoke rising from the ground in places, part of an abandoned highway you can walk down, and creepy graveyards all around. I think they filmed part of the movie Silent Hill there (or got the idea from there, don't remember exactly). Anyway, it's an interesting place to explore if you're into that sort of thing.

There are numerous places near Philly that you can make day trips to. First, the Sesame Place in Langhorne is a must-visit if you have children. They absolutely love the place. Then you could also visit Please touch museum near Philly. There's a very famous aquarium in Camden, NJ, that is barely a few miles away from Philly. You can spend your entire day at the facility, exploring the various sea creatures. Then there's the famous mall called King of Prussia in Harrisburg, PA. Atlantic City in NJ is also not too far. Hope this helps!

No doubt Philadelphia offers plenty of mesmerizing tourists destinations. I also visited there more than once and had great time. Being a nature sightseeing lover my most favourite destination is Longwood Gardens. I visited there with my friends and would love see those beautiful nature views in my memories for once again.
