They visited a restaurant in Chicago called Irazu, small Costa Rican restaurant. I went there for my birthday last year. SO good.

I've been to a few of the local places that have been on. Most recently, I took my daughter to Union Woodshop in Clarkston, MI on our way to a concert out there (appropriately enough, Kid Rock who guest starred in that episode). Excellent, excellent BBQ, every bit as good as it looked on the show, and really fun decor with a Simpsons quote (about pork, of course) on the wall, an old-fashioned skee-ball type bowling game in the waiting area, and just a very cool vibe all around.

We're semi-regular visitors to Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck too, and I think that was the one on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives... Another restaurant, Polonia, that is on the same street and shares a parking lot with Polish Village Cafe was on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. Or maybe I have that backwards... My family is from that area so I've been to both restaurants many times and they both have fabulous Polish food, but I prefer the "Grandma's basement" atmosphere of Polish Village Cafe.

I'm not sure if I've ever been to restaurants that were featured in other cities, though. I tend to hear about Detroit area and Michigan restaurants that are featured because it gets news mention, and I've been to quite a few that have been on one program or another - Slows BBQ was on Best Sandwich in America, Lafayette Coney was on Food Wars - but those are places just about any local would have eaten at some point. Since I seek out local food blogs and magazines to guide my dining habits when I travel I may have hit some places that have been featured in other cities, but I don't watch much food-television so I wouldn't know if I had.

Thanks for sharing! I've always wondered if the food was really that great in some of these places or if he was faking for the cameras. Good to know some are really good!

I really like this place in DC called 'American City Diner'. They have amazing food and show old movies every night of the week that you can watch on a huge screen while you eat dinner there. It is really cool

I hadn't heard of the show before this post, but it looks right up my alley! They have a list, so I took a look and I have eaten at two that I recognize, The Grubstake
and Tommy's Joynt both in San Francisco.

But now I have a bucket list!

I am not sure if they featured it, but when in Arizona you have to go to the "Space Age Diner" with the UFO on the roof. If you are near Thermal California (on way to Vegas from So Cal) go to the diner that says "date shakes". The shakes and food are delish!

So we stopped by Sip and Bite here in Baltimore the other day....I think it lived up to its TV portrayal. Very, very good local food .

Almost forgot about the Weiners Circle in Chicago. Check out the videos on youtube if you have never heard of it. Interesting dogs but more interesting experience. You get an insult with every order!

During my road trip to the States a few years ago, I stopped by Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor, Michigan which was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and it did not disappoint! I highly recommend anyone around this area to give it a try because it was the best burger I have ever tasted. The burger patties are super thin but because of this each burger has like a minimum of 3 patties so it makes up for it. It was super juicy and the gourmet toppings on it just makes the burger all come together.

We have a few local places that have been featured and they really do serve great food. Once when I took a road trip I made it a point to stop at places along the way that were featured in the show. That was fun. Got to try a lot of different places, that I would not have found otherwise.

It is very nice place specially to eat food. If you are fond of Italian food then you must go there. I love Italian food and always prefer to go there with my friends. It is really fun and enjoying time to spend there.

Hyrrin, I must say the names are really nice and seems that here we can get good facilities. I will like to discuss about it with my uncle who have a plan of taking a tour to the Chicago and sure he will choose one name for staying in it.
