Humour (maybe in retrospect) flying stories?

I was flying alone for about the second time in my life. I was on a really early flight, at five in the morning. We were headed for New York and stewardess blithely announces it's a flight to Boston. And of course, when you're just getting used to travelling alone, you have that fear, no matter how unlikely (though I did know someone it happened to once) that you're going to somehow wind up on the wrong plane. I instantly got panicked and the stewardess didn't realize what she had said until she'd gotten through her whole welcoming announcement and the second stewardess had corrected her.

So, have you guys got any funny stories from flying? Probably funnier then mine ;-).

Oh god, these should be interesting! I'm always so uptight and stressed I can't handle myself haha nothing seems funny at that point.

It never happened to me, I also traveled alone most of the time. I don't want to experience that same thing. Maybe now you can recall it while laughing, but I can't imagine how you feel at that time.

Something like that has never happened to me, the worst thing that has happened to me so far has been missing my flight This has happened twice so far, the first time it was really stressing!

Oh goodness. I suppose the story I can laugh about now is the one that was the worst to go through. It was back in maybe 2000, 2001. I was on a connecting flight from Germany in France, waiting to fly to America. It was during the time of the Mad Cow Disease scare. I remember having to sit on that plane for 6 hours- do absolutely nothing but sit there- and wait as they searched the entire plane for any trace of contaminated meat. Now, I had a sandwich in my pocket from Germany that I had completely forgotten about. Of course, it had wonderful, banned German beef in it. Once I arrived in America, sandwich still in my pocket, I was accosted by the beagle of an airport security lady. Since I didn't speak a word of English, I had no idea what was going on, or why it was sniffing my pocket. I just thought the beagle was cute!

VERY thankfully, the airport security lady did not speak a word of German. When she asked my English-speaking father for the sandwich, he said he did not know where it was from or why I had it. When she checked the packaging, she saw the word "Deutschland" and thought it was from Denmark, not from Germany! So we were free to go. Phew!

[email protected] That's funny all you thought about was the beagle was cute lol. Mine has to be the very first time I flew alone by myself from one town to another town, The flight was already delayed for one hour and when we stepped in the plane and the candies were given to us, we got an announcement that the plane was erm..broke? so we all were asked to get out and went back to sit in the waiting room. I was not even 16 back then and I remember I was scared and didn't know what to do but the plane was full of businessmen so one of the businessman approached me and told me to just follow them. don't wander around and don't be scared. I was more worried to the fact the next day I had a test so I couldn't be late ,I was all worried I'd have to sleep in the airport. The businessmen demanded the flying company provided us another plane that same day. So I did fly back that same day but I was in airport from 10 a.m to 5 PM!!

Mine wasn't funny at all at the time and even looking back at it, it still kind of freaks me out! I was about 15 years old at the time and either flying to or from Hong Kong. We just took off and about 10 minutes into the flight I looked out my window and I saw some black smoke coming out of the engine right underneath the wing. At that point in time I was scared out of my mine since I already have a slight fear in flying already. Next thing I know the pilot comes on and tells us that the plane will have to go back to the airport and make an emergency landing. Luckily this happened not too long after take off and there was still ample time to go back and touch down. If we were deep into the flight in the middle of no where over the Atlantic ocean I don't even know if I'd still be alive today. The next morning my flight made it on the news, but I am glad I am here today to tell the tale!
