Most Unusual, Bizarrel or Memorable Tourist Stop

I always remember going through Arizona and seeing the Burma Shave like billboards for "The Thing". It is a stop with food and gas but the most unusual little tour you will ever take. There are a series of aircraft like small hangar buildings with antiques, odd looking root carvings and "things" I have never seen elsewhere. The only other thing I know of that has come close in the bizarre factor is the "Integretron" in Landers, California (about an hour north of Palm Springs where you can get a "sound bath" and it has a following of the odd science and UFO crowd. What is your nomination for such a tourist stop?

Try South of the Border. It's a very cheesy stop on interstate 95 on the border between North and South Carolina. If you have never been you will find it unusual and very interesting. I wish I had a picture to post. Very much for tourists.

I second south of the border. We used to have a game of shouting out when we'd see one of the million signs.

BonnieA and alycat32 - thanks for the recommendation. Cheesy is what I had in mind and I think you are teasing me by not saying more. I will have to look it up and see why two of you came up with it that quick.

I forgot to mention "Ozarkland" which has a couple of stores I ran across going from California to Michigan. They had a million odd things in there including the "redneck" joke fare that yes I bought and brought back to a few friends. Yes some cheesy but other rather unusual finds.

Though it wasn't bizarre or unusual, the "I love Chicago!" tourist shop in Woodfield Mall has always been the most memorable for me. I was a little girl from Germany visiting it for the first time, and my father bought me a bunch of Chicago tourist gear. T-shirts, hats, little mugs... I think I still have some of them. I took my sister visiting from Germany there as well, and she enjoyed the little knickknacks as much as I did 11 years ago.

Not sure if the Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City, CA counts. We went there specifically, rather than seeing it from the side of the road. But it is pretty weird

I don't know if you're interested in art, but there's an unusual museum called the Museum of Bad Art in Boston. I think the whole concept of having a museum of bad art is quite hilarious. There's also the Cockroach Hall of Fame Museum which features hissing cockroaches dressed up as celebrities and historical figures. That's not my kind of thing, or if you're interested in that sort of stuff, you could visit it at Plano, Texas.

If you like quirky, you can go to Tennessee and visit Cooter's place in Nashville. It's a homage to the Dukes of Hazzard. It's actually ran by Ben Jones, who played Cooter on the show. It has a lot of the props from the show, and even some of the cars. It has Daisy's jeep, Cooter's tow truck, and even the General Lee. A lot of memorabilia and pictures of the cast too. It's certainly a blast from the past.

After you go there, take a trip to the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. It's literally the most breathtaking thing I've ever seen in my life. Acres of indoor gardens, waterfalls, restaurants, and stores. It was so beautiful. I could have stayed in there all day. Be careful though, it's so huge that you can get lost in the resort. We had to ask for directions while inside the place!

At the moment understanding things in general is an important part for us. Things which are like toronto niagara falls tour helps us with learning and growing at that part because it works for sure which is the way how it has to be.
