    Best Way To Travel?

Be it plane, train, or automobile, what do you prefer?

My favorite way to travel is a roadtrip in my car. I like to see as much of the country as possible, even if it can get really boring (I'm looking at you, the majority of Illinois!). It's nice to be able to take your time, explore the different states, and see everything you can before you get to your destination. Flying can be great if I'm in a hurry, but it's altogether a hassle. A hassle that almost always costs me more than driving, at that!

Depends on this distance. I generally prefer a plane, cost allowing, but I agree with you it sure is getting to be a hassle. I'm planning a trip to NYC this summer and I think I'm just going to take a bus.

I usually like to fly if I can find a good deal, since it's the most cost-efficient. If the distance is short enough, I like the train. It's more convenient than driving, since I don't have to worry about gas, parking and of course driving. It's also quicker than a bus. It also gives me a good glimpse at scenery and what's in between my destinations, which can be interesting. But I can't tolerate train rides of over six hours - if it's that long then I'd rather just fly.

It all depends....I wouldn't want to go completely cross country via car. I'd have to go with planes for that, and I do love flying. However, there are benefits to driving....I drove from Pennsylvania to Louisiana and that's probably about as far as I'd comfortably want to drive.

I think it's really nice to drive by car and experience an awesome roadtrip with lots of friends. But if I'm traveling alone I would probably prefer the airplane since it's easier, less-stressful and faster. An argument against flying is the relatively large price of it but I'd rather spend the few extra dollars and not have to worry about driving 16 hours.

It depends on the country. In other countries, I prefer the train (get to see the beautiful country and the train is an experience in and of itself). But in the US, I prefer car. I'm in control, and I can get lost whenever I want and just start exploring. Nothing beats a road trip with good friends.

In States, definitely by car! But in France, I take the TGV (high-speed train), it's a little bit expensive, but it is so convenient and goes from Paris all the way to my doorstep in Bordeaux!
When going from Southern France to Spain (Barcelona and Valencia), on the other hand, I always take the bus (with a company called Eurolines) so I can appreciate the lovey view of the Mediterranean Sea while going from North to South.

I prefer to fly, but perhaps that is because I've already crossed the country by car and back twice when I was a teenager, so I'm not as into the idea of riding for hours and hours anymore, LOL. To me, flying hasn't been too bad because I refuse to bring a carryon bag. I'd rather check the bag if necessary just so I don't have to deal with the fight for the overhead space. Plus, being in boarding zone 45 doesn't matter so much when all you're carrying is your book and a bottle of water.

Depends on the mood, weather and the country of course. I would prefer by car because i really love road trips and i enjoy watching the scenery while driving. Bus can get a bit crowded and i can't stand that. I think airplanes should only be used if your only goal is your destination and the trip doesn't mean much to you.

I think I like flying and driving equally. I agree with you that with driving you get to see the countryside and everything it has to offer! I live in CT so we drive to NYC every once in a while. We always go on a plane when going pretty far and I like the experience because you can see the sky and down below. It also speeds up the process.

A road trip is awesome. I hate being carless anywhere, so that would be my choice. But, a scenic train trip is amazing. You just sit in the box car and look out the windows and enjoy some great views.

    Re: Best Way To Travel?

For long trips, I prefer to travel by plane. In some instances, I prefer to travel by train. We took a 10-hour train ride (2-hour stop included) from Normandy to Cannes last year and it was very nice and relaxing (until we got to the train station in Cannes with our 5 luggages, portable baby bed, and a stroller). We travelled with our 3-month old at that time, and we booked 1st class tickets. The views were beautiful, we had ample space, baby slept a lot, and when she was awake, we strolled around the train car with her. I cannot stand sitting inside a car. Road trips are ok, but it has to be with people that I really like a lot. Otherwise I always end up wanting to shoot myself. Getting stuck in traffic makes me want to shoot myself twice. Ideally, I would like to live the rest of my life without having to drive. How impossible is that?

You know, I have an absolute passion for flying! I love planes! But believe it or not, I actually don't like to travel in them much. You all might think that is kind of weird, but the fact is that you miss a lot of things by flying. When you travel by road you will see some of the coolest places, meet some of the most unique people, and probably have a few random events occur to you that will make good stories to tell over and over again for years to come. I think if you're looking for an adventure, then a road trip is just for you! However, if you're looking to get from point A to point B pretty quickly, then plane or train would be my next choice.

The car has always been my favorite kind of transportation because I'm in control. I would get on a plane if my destination is extremely far away but I would rather get in the car and go. They say faster isn't always better. You would think if we had wings we would be up there flying but we don't lol. I know my destination isn't going anywhere and it'll be there when I get there. I always wanted to travel on a train and experience how that is. Maybe I might do that next when I have to take a long trip.
