Which States You Could See Yourself Live There Permanently?

Of all the states you guys have been visited, is there anyone in particular that struck you with 'hm I could totally live here'. As someone once told me 'Why visit if you could live there'? .

Well, between logistics of my life and necessary things, the only place I could realistically see myself is in or right outside of Baltimore. I used to really want either Northern California or Seattle, Washington but I've moved on from them .

I could see myself living in Florida and Arkansas. I love the beaches of Florida and I love the woods of Arkansas. I almost moved to Florida once but I could not afford the cost of living there. I looked seriously at land in Arkansas too. I have always wanted a decent size tract of land that I could live comfortably on. I would love to own land that was next to a National Forest. I am one of those people that could get lost from the rest of the world. Give me a good house and a decent internet connection and I would be set!

Well, I'm from Illinois, but after visiting Mackinac Island, Michigan, I was taken aback by the aura of the place and wanted to be there for a while longer. I got a summer job there and kept coming back for a few years, and now I'm content to call it my home. I like to think that I will stay in Michigan because of the beauty and magic of Mackinac as well as the lovely scenery that is around northern Michigan.

For me it would be Michigan. I love the fact Michigan has a really nice and cool weather, and the winters over there are real winters, not like the winters I experiene here or in Texas (winters there are a joke), but in Michigan... it's so nice Plus it's nice to live so close to the Canadian border! I'd love to be able to cross the border every now and then and buy a couple of things there (mostly meds).

Oh man, I haven't spent a winter in Michigan yet (always been in IL for the winter), so I'll see how harsh it gets up here :P
I'm still excited though, and yes, being close to Canada is pretty neat :3

I love to live in IL. I stayed there for few years and if ever I will select a state to live, I will definitely go with it. I know it is colder compare to other states, but I don't see any problem living in a cold place. I like the chitown. It's very beautiful and very clean, compare to others.

When I was in the Army I was stationed in WA and I feel in love with the Pacific Northwest. The area is beautiful and there is so much to do. I really wish I had taken more advantage of it when I was living out there.

Personally, I've never been, but I think I could live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This area is known as "Silicon Prairie." The real estate is very affordable, it is a good sized city and the state is absolutely beautiful. I love the cold weather and it seems to be pretty well protected from the possibilities of many natural disasters. But I'm weird though.

I grew up in Michigan and the winters were actually tempered by the "lake effect". Granted I was in the lower peninsula but I loved the soft fluffly snows as well as the harder cold packed snow. Since I have been living in California, I could see myself moving back to Michigan as I grew to love the mountain areas here that are cooler (in southern california) or a place like Colorado that has the western influence as well as the seasons and snow.

New Mexico. It's always been New Mexico. It's hot, but not humid. It's very pretty there, and the people seem to be very laid back and friendly. I just like everything about that state.

There was a time that I would have loved to move to Florida. Now, I'm a little fearful of moving there because of all those sinkholes! I'm beginning to think that state is going to sink into the ocean!

I found St Augustine, Florida to be very interesting and I loved the weather. I could live there after I reach retirement age. I also love the beach and the idea of the fountain of youth hiding in St Augustine.

Re: Which States You Could See Yourself Live There Permanently?

I just recently had that feeling for the first time in all my travels, in Florida of all places. Not somewhere I ever imagined myself wanting to live, other than for the weather, but I absolutely fell in love with an off-the-beaten-path part of the Gulf Coast we visited. It reminded me very strongly of my hometown, but with a little more laid back tropical vibe, but not busy and touristy or packed with retirees the way the other parts of Florida I've traveled in have been. Just very small town, a little redneck, surrounded by nature. Perfect.

But I think I would have a hard time leaving Michigan behind. I love having four seasons, even if I do feel like winter is a couple months too long and summer a couple months too short, and I can't imagine anywhere else replacing Detroit as home in my heart of hearts. Even living an hour away from the city is a bit too much for me at times. I can embrace a good cliche, though - I hope to do the "snowbird" thing, living part of the year here (hopefully back in the city center) and part in Florida, once the kids are grown. I can work from anywhere with an internet connection, so I don't even have to wait for retirement. :-)

I don't know if I want to stay anywhere forever!, but I could definitely live in the following for a few years: Oregon, the Florida keys, and Colorado. I also really love my home state of California.

I've always had an interest in working in the film industry so the place I'd like to live in would be California. That way I could commute from L.A into Hollywood each morning, do some temp job [like being an extra in some flick] and go back home in the evening very well satisfied that my life is OK. But then with the extra's job being rather few, hell. . .I'm content where I live.

I haven't done a road trip around the states yet but hope to do this one day. I have been to New York city and i felt it is a place i could live (for a while at least). Manhattan is a small place where you can walk from bottom to top within a day, i like the food, the layout, and it seems like a safe place to live. Most were friendly and approachable, willing to help a lost foreigner. I could rent a place there and settle down for a while.

Most definitely, anywhere in NYC and the suburbs, California - anywhere, any state along the oceans. I love to be near the water and the views are amazing. I would enjoy any major city as well because I'm a city girl.

My husband was stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas and the nearest major city was Dallas, TX. After visiting a few times I really enjoyed it and would consider living there if I ever decided to move. I think it is a very calm, relaxed place and I enjoyed the weather.

Well, I've spent a long time in California, and although I expect to live elsewhere for a few years, I can definitely see ending up here permanently. If not here, probably Oregon or Washington state.

Basically I don't like humidity or extremes of temperature, so vast swaths of the country are on my "nice to visit, but wouldn't live there" list

Out of all the states I have visited I could see myself living in either Oregon or Colorado. I currently live in California and absolutely love it but if I had to move it would be to one of those two states for sure. I'm looking forward to traveling to Wyoming soon and I have a feeling I'll love it there too.

Currently I live in California and I have lived here my entire life. I love California and do not really foresee myself living elsewhere, but I do have a couple of favorite places that I have visited. I have travelled to several states throughout the United States. Out of those states that I have previously visited, I could easily envision myself living in Washington or Oregon. Seattle and Portland are two of my favorite cities that I love to visit and could see myself living in.

I visited the US a couple of years ago and I visited several states, but my favourite was definitely California. There just seemed to be so many things to do and so many different places to go to within the state, and I felt like a could have stayed there for months. I especially liked San Francisco, I didn't spend long there but it seemed like a very beautiful place and one in which I could see myself living.

Any state with a tropical climate....I moved to Florida and lived there for 6 years...although I loved the weather..the food down there had me so home sick (I'm from the Jersey/ Philly area). I would love to make my next move to California..the only thing stopping me is the darn earthquakes...lol. But then again...I've dealt with some major Hurricanes living in FLA.
